Community Highlights: Meet Danielle Harmon of Boundless Financial Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Harmon.

Hi Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I came out of college with a degree in Finance in 2006. I knew I wanted to help people with money, but I was still determining exactly what that would look like. I spent 10 years working in various financial institutions in the Greenville area. I learned that what I love is financial planning. I also discovered that many people who need financial planning don’t qualify for financial planning by most financial advisors’ standards. I had no desire to work for a large financial institution that required me to reach sales goals. Instead, I wanted to focus on helping people needing professional financial advice without strings attached. After researching and working alongside another financial planner entrepreneur who established their own independent business, I decided to leap. In the fall of 2020, Boundless Financial Services opened for business.

Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Much slower than anticipated. I had planned to launch my business in 2020, but then Covid hit. I have 3 young children, so school was shut down, and I had 2 toddlers plus a 1st grader at home with me. Being a mom is super busy, and then adding a business launch on top of that, all while going through Covid, made things very slow. Now that all those things are behind me, business is picking up!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I have the CFP® designation, which is a Certified Financial Planner Professional. My business is unique because I focus on providing financial planning, and Investment management is optional. My financial planning services can be a standalone service for a flat annual fee or be done hourly. My business is also considered fee-only, which means there are no sales involved in my business. I never sell investment products to clients that provide me with a commission. (If you are unfamiliar with the traditional financial advisor, they are typically focused on investments for wealthy individuals.)

I focus on helping women entrepreneurs and their families get their finances organized. I understand first-hand that business ownership is stressful and that life gets complicated. I work with my clients to answer all their questions and to establish a financial foundation with simplicity and ease. I am an accountability partner that walks alongside them to keep them on the right path.

Brand-wise, Boundless Financial is professional but not “stuffy.” You won’t see a mahogany desk or lots of expensive client events. You won’t find me trying to impress them with fancy things. I’m very down-to-earth and friendly. I focus on getting results for my clients and talking about a money mindset.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Resilience! Life is crazy and unexpected. Things are bound to happen that we never saw coming. No matter what comes my way, I refuse to give up. A variety of things like covid, 3 young kids, and my health struggles, none of it has made me quit. I keep going so I can bring value to those around me.
