Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Lozano.
Hi Andres, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I committed to the idea of starting a Mexican fast-food concept back in October 2021. At the time, I was working for Chick-Fil-A in Taylors, SC. I would spend 80% of my paycheck on restaurant equipment for 6 months Straight. Also, throughout that time, I would cook the future Taco Shack menu for friends and family. They would provide constructive criticism on the product’s texture, taste, and consistency, and then I would go back to the drawing board. In march 2022, I left CFA to start the Taco Shack Journey. And the road has been challenging. Over that time, I have been in 4 Commerical Kitchens, 2 partnerships and worked countless 100-hour weeks. I have sold at farmers’ markets, caterings, pop-ups, and sold on street corners. And I wouldn’t take back one second. A friend/mentor once told me. When you can work a 12-hour day and still be able to think straight, that’s when you know you have a chance at making it. Today is almost a year later, and were starting a drive-thru pop-up at 32 Piney Mountain Rd in Greenville, SC. In my mind, we’re just getting started! If it weren’t for my family and friends, the idea of Taco Shack would only be a memory.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I think of struggles, I think of obstacles. And there have been many. One major one was in June of 2022 I almost gave up. At this point, It was my 3rd Commerical Kitchen in 5 months, and at some point, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. Suppose it wasn’t for Cameron, who made me realize that everything I needed was right in front of me. And if it weren’t for the commitment I made to cater to Steve’s business, I trust. Taco shack would be a memory.
As you know, we’re big fans of Taco Shack. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Mom’s Recipes define Taco Shack. We are known for making simple food, fast. Breakfast Burritos, Tamales, Fresh Squeezed OJ:), Te de Canela (Cinnamon tea), & coffee from a local vendor.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The list is so long, and I love to include everyone.
