Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Dyson Roach.
Hi Tammy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Was working in a corporate situation, and as a creative person, that was not working for me. I answered an add-in a local paper to run a floral shop downtown Aiken. I went in for an interview and told them I could manage their business, and although I had no experience in florals, I was a creative person and willing to take it on. I increased their wedding sales and helped them regain a reputation for unique florals. The “unique” florals, as a result of being self-taught. I went on to a much larger company in Hilton Head, and then merged into my own business. When I came back to Aiken in 2009 word of mouth about my business, spread quickly and it has been very successful, with very little advertising. I do weddings and event florals. Unique design, and am basically a one woman show. I do all the design work by myself and will pull a day of assistance for set-up help.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Fortunately I have not had any struggles. Right off the bat, I gained great clientele who referred me to great clientele.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do wedding and event florals. I specialize in unique floral design and am known for being very creative, and helping put together a bride’s/client’s vision. My business statement is, ” my artistry, passion, and knowledge combined with your vision and personal style. ” I’m most proud of the fact that I always hear ” above and beyond” and ” brought my vision to life “. I’m also proud of the way I conduct business, and that’s what sets me apart. I am very personally involved from start to finish in the process and there is no passing the file to another designer for maybe a different interoperation. You meet with me. I do the design work and I am there the day of set up.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My family had a summer home on Edisto, so all of my summers as a child were of that.
