Check Out Mikayla Prioleau’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikayla Prioleau.

Hi Mikayla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
The year 2020 was a year to say the least. Many people lost everything they had and suffered from depression, anxiety, and the fear of the unknown. I was at a time of dark depression after losing my grandmother. Growing up, she always taught me to keep going even when things are rough. Her motivation allowed me to focus on one of my true passions, cooking, and blogging. At first, this page was just for fun, but who knew that I was entering a whole new season of my life. I had so much free time on my hands and figured that a way to keep my mind focused would be to start a food blog of many different dishes that I love to create. I enjoy preparing healthy meals, quick meals, and also meals that will feed the soul. I enjoy incorporating a taste of the south in all of my dishes because I am a Southern girl. Traveling is also one of my favorite activities to do on my free time because I am able to experience different areas and most importantly try different restaurants. Once I started sharing meals that I prepare at home, people started really enjoying my content. It was only right to post menu items from restaurants because I am all about brand awareness. Over the past year managing a food blog has taught me a lot about the creativity and places that food can take you. I have had so much support including features from verified influencer food pages, partnerships and collaborations with seasoning companies, and national recognition from globally known institutions. My message to everyone is to continue to chase your goals and dreams but most importantly do the things that YOU love. When you do these things, you feel better, your mood is better, you’re happy. Today, I can still hear my grandmother in the back of my head telling me to keep going and that’s what makes me work ten times harder.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road but just like anything else new, there is that fear of the unknown. Oftentimes, I worried that I wasn’t creating content that would appeal to my target audience. I worried about the amount of followers/likes on my page when in time, that came.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Upon graduating from college, I had a strong interest in marketing and social media management. I love the way social media analytics work together to produce metrics. My strongest area is communication. Communication is key in life and effective communication can take you far from my experiences. I have held a few roles in the corporate marketing arena and nonprofit sector. I am currently working in higher education to this day and was able to incorporate my marketing skills in each role. I am known for my social media marketing tactics and ability to help others meet their life goals. I am most proud of the way I am able to network with people and adapt to any environment that I am thrown in.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
