Hi Lucica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Starting as a young adult I loved putting on my grandmother’s cold cream. It was just relaxing and fun. Moving into my teens I experimented with tons of drug store and department store products. I found nothing more satisfying than buying a new product, As I matured I continued to experiment. I even sold Mary Kay. I was fascinated about educating women on skincare first before makeup. In my 30s I lost a close friend to breast cancer. Before she died she educated me on several cancer-causing chemicals that I never knew about.
So I started reading labels and shopping for cleaner options. As my children grew up I found myself with more time. Time to research more about creating my own products for personal use. I found out that many of my everyday products like toothpaste, deodorant, and face wash were simple and affordable to make for myself. I had complete joy in the process. I advanced to taking formulation classes, learning the proper measurement and beneficial ingredients to a create balanced and stable product.
Soon I was getting more and more compliments on my skin. Five years into making my own, I decided it would be an exciting journey to start up a skincare line. So here I am! Yet my take on natural skincare is outside of the box. Most people think of nature as plain, earthy, and boring. Also, unscented bland products come to mind. I want to flip that to high-end clean luxury products. With the luster, uniqueness, and beautiful scents that draw us to the cosmetic counters. You can have your cake and eat it too! With zero calories. (zero chemicals)
Many ask the name “Ntyme??” I believe patience is a virtue, and all good things come in time. When it comes to natural beauty. It takes time to develop and nurture a consistent routine that works for you. We are all different, the time it takes some may be different from the time it takes others. Also, I embrace taking time out of each day for a little self-care.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has been a learning curve for sure! I am 47 and I have so much to learn. This biggest challenge for me has been maneuvering my way through the turbulent waters of social media. I have read books, watched videos, and had in-depth conversations with experienced business owners. I am just now learning to ride the wave. It feels good to find my place.
Another challenge is time. It has taken several months to conquer time management. My husband is my best friend and I never want to sacrifice time away from him. So I have a business schedule and as long as I stick to the schedule everything balances out for a happy life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a botanical skincare formulator. I have taken formulation classes, so I formulate natural products rich in botanicals, herbs, and vitamins. Such as organic coconut oil, jojoba oil, argon, rosehip, and aloe just to name a few. For women, I make face wash, body oil, lip scrub, lip gloss, bath salts, eye cream, water gel face cream, body butter, body lotion, body powder, facial oil, and blemish oil.
For men, I make shave cream, post-shave, beard oil, fragrance, and body lotion. I also create my own custom packaging to make it extra special once you place an order. I really care about each one of my customers. I am most proud of the opportunity to teach. I believe knowledge is power. The more you know the further you can go. When you know better you do better. I want individuals to know that taking care of their skin can reap lifelong results. This is a lesson that can be shared and passed down to future generations.
Several times a month I appear at local artisan markets and festivals throughout SC. This gives me the opportunity to talk to individuals one on one about the benefits of taking care of their skin and the healing properties of each ingredient that I use. What sets me apart is the luxurious look and feel along with the variety! It’s hard to find handmade face wash, eye cream, and elegant body powder anywhere.
What makes you happy?
A wowed customer. I love seeing the 5-star Google reviews. The appreciation and smiles from sharing information with customers and observers are also priceless. Gives me the satisfaction of knowing I can be making a difference in someone looking either 47 when they are 47. Or 35 when they are 47!!
Also, this is a shared journey. I have been cruising along with my husband Troyce. He makes me the happiest. He has been the inspiration behind the men’s line. Without his smiles and cheers to keep me grounded it would be impossible to be successful. He also markets me to as much as he can. He’s so proud of me.
