Check Out Liliana Maya’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liliana Maya.

Liliana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, my name is Liliana Maya. I was born in Colombia and have lived in the United States for 20 years. I started to paint as a hobby and to sell my art to my friends, I have worked to be a little better every day, and I am self-taught.

I have had exhibitions and exhibited my art in different galleries, I am very grateful to a beautiful gallery for believing in me! I invite you to visit it called Revealed Gallery in Charleston.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road in art has not been easy for me, I think that the language and being from another country makes everything a little more difficult, God gave me the talent and perseverance to fight against adversity and has also led me to meet people beautiful that has helped and motivated me in this beautiful world that is art

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Nature is my inspiration. I always try to capture its beauty on my canvases. My workspace is surrounded by it. Each brushstroke is accompanied by the song of a bird or the sound of the wind that are always my company or a podcast of my interest.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
Definitely yes. Having made the decision to leave our native country to seek new opportunities was quite a challenge.

I had to face the language barrier and culture shock, but I met wonderful people at every turn, who believed in and valued my work. And I am very grateful for it.
