Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Hume.
Hi Keith, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been into photography, more as a hobby, as I had a Retail and Restaurant management career. Most recently, as a Director of Operations for all Low Country Wild Wing Cafes. When my wife and I married, she was a photographer, too; we got our wedding pics back and were disappointed, as there were tons of pics of us. But none of the photos we sought were of people enjoying our special day with us. As anyone who’s been married knows, you go through that day with blinders on, so you don’t see your friends and family enjoying the day with you. So the idea for Dual Perspective Photography was born then; it means that we provide an immersive experience for any event. That includes all of the special intimate moments so that they can be viewed later, and everyone can get a feel for what happened, whether you were a part of it or not. It’s now grown significantly since our move to South Carolina from Ohio. After our move, I started filming local bands and posting their performances for fun. I got rave reviews from the musicians because they, too, performed with blinders on, so they could now see how people enjoyed their performances. I worked full-time for a year and a half since we moved, taking some time to do photos and videos. When I finally couldn’t stand to work for the company I was with anymore and left, I figured it was time to turn all of my attention and focus to what I loved doing, with was capturing special moments for people. It’s grown exponentially from there as I now do Real Estate Photography to help prospective buyers see the beauty in homes for sale. I love taking pictures that will last forever, tell a story, and help people remember an event. My wife and I are a team; I take photos she makes them beautiful with her editing. We will handle all kinds of photography, from weddings, graduations, senior pics, family Beach shoots, real estate, band Photos and videos, food shots, and much more.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t, could have been a smoother road. It takes a lot of work and a lot of patience to start your own business; it’s terrifying if you have a family that relies on you to keep a roof over your head and pay all the bills, going from a guaranteed good salary to fighting for every last penny is difficult. So far, it has been working out. But it is scary. I took a considerable gamble betting on myself with this business, and I will continue to work frivolously to make it all work out.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for taking great live shots of bands and Good videos. What sets me apart is the immersive experience of capturing all that’s going on around me. I want to continue to grow as a photographer and videographer and will put the utmost effort into honing my craft and growing my business. But will also always do my best to make my clients happy.
