Check Out Jess Hill’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Hill.

Hi Jess, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The saying “A picture is worth a thousand words” peaked my curiosity when first starting in the photography world- but I wanted more. What if I captured my clients in such a way that it was more than a “thousand words”? Rather than limit myself, I capture an experience and by looking at it you are caught in the moment? Yes, that’s what I do!

Starting in Orlando, FL more than a decade ago, I started shooting portraits. After moving to SC, I expanded my portfolio by not only doing portraits, but also adding weddings, families and children. After shooting several weddings, I made the decision that my passion was truly in shooting Fashion, Editorial, Portrait and Boudoir. Having the intimacy of shooting 1-2 people and through that allowing everyone else see the best version of them truly excites me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Always enjoy this question, can there be growth without struggle? Of course not- That’s what makes the story interesting. I had an illness that almost took my life which caused me not to do photography for about 2 years. However, it gave me a new perspective on life and a deeper passion for my art.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Photographer- Portraits, Editorial, Fashion, Boudoir

Most proud of how far I have come and the people and and experiences along the way.
I’m set apart by how I treat the person/persons in front of me especially when you get into more vulnerable shoots with Boudoir. Making the client comfortable, have genuine fun and feel sexy and that truly be the case and reflect on camera is harder than most people think- and I achieve that. If my client isn’t feeling good during the shoot, they won’t like what they see after. From the first interaction to completing the photos, my clients know that I’m there for them and they can rest easy.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Greenville is clean and easy to navigate- I’d call it easy living.

The ocean could be a lot closer- a nice 30 min drive would be nice! I know, it’s a dream.
