Today we’d like to introduce you to Hollis Gallagher.
Hi Hollis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Let’s rewind to 2021: amidst the pandemic’s uncertainty, I found myself balancing the joys of new motherhood with the challenges of job loss. With a background in graphic design and a craving for creative expression, I decided to turn adversity into opportunity—Cue Soirée All Day—a venture born out of a desire to spread joy in uncertain times. Initially, I dabbled in printable wedding templates on Etsy but soon realized I longed for something more tangible and personal. Enter the handwritten note. In a world of digital noise, there’s magic in the simplicity of pen and paper. It’s about slowing down, savoring the moment, and connecting deeper. And so, armed with holiday card designs and a dash of courage, I ventured into printed products. Today, Soirée All Day is about finding beauty in the little things, cherishing connections, and embracing the journey, one celebration at a time. After all, life’s most decadent moments are often found in the simplest pleasures. Each piece is crafted with love and attention to detail, from personalized gift tags to whimsical stationery sets. And I’m not in this alone—my mom, Judi, and Aunt Polly—both incredibly talented painters lend their talents to the mix, making it a true family affair.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been more struggles than I can count! One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a small business owner is the sheer breadth of roles I’ve had to juggle. From marketing guru to accountant, operations manager, and customer service representative, I’ve worn more hats than I ever thought possible. It can be an actual balancing act, trying to stay focused on the creative heart of the business amidst all the administrative demands. And then there’s the patience game. In a world where everything seems to move at lightning speed, it’s tough to accept that growth takes time. We’re bombarded with overnight success stories, but the reality is often far from that. I’ve had my fair share of moments where I’ve felt disheartened by slower-than-expected sales or a new design that doesn’t resonate with my audience. It’s like nurturing a newborn—you pour your heart and soul into it, and all you want is to see it thrive and shine.
But amidst the challenges and setbacks, there’s also been incredible personal and professional growth. I’ve learned to celebrate the small victories, embrace the journey, and find joy in the process, even when it feels like an uphill climb. Perhaps most importantly, I’ve come to appreciate the support network surrounding me—family, friends, and fellow entrepreneurs—who lift me during the tough times and celebrate with me during the good. Ultimately, it’s not just about building a business—it’s about creating a life filled with passion, purpose, and a healthy dose of perseverance.
Thanks for sharing that. You could tell us more about your work.
I specialize in crafting bespoke stationery, offering personalized paper products designed to elevate life’s special moments, whether a birthday bash, a baby shower, or even a note in the mail to say ‘hello.’ My signature style is characterized by whimsy and charm, brought to life through my original artwork and other talented female artists—most notably, my mom and aunt. What sets me apart is the quality of my designs and the values underpinning my business. As a mother and female entrepreneur, I take immense pride in demonstrating to my two daughters that pursuing one’s passion can be a viable livelihood. I’m dedicated to showcasing women’s creative prowess in business and empowering others to embrace their entrepreneurial journeys.
