Check Out Candii Lashay’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candii Lashay.

Hi Candii, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started as a poet in middle school writing in my diary. When I use to have good days or bad days, I would jot down my feelings in poems. As I got into high school, rap battles would trigger me because I knew I could rhyme. I also remembered my oldest sister could rap. In 2019 I dropped my first song & did my 1st performance. I have a lot of support from my family and friends that help me to keep going mentally. Now here I am have done open performances for Saucy Santana, Jacquees, and Key Glock. The best is yet to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Really just the reality of life itself is the struggle when following a dream. I’ve been stuck in doubting myself, comparing myself, and even just flat out quitting mentally. Everyday life responsibilities such as bills, my kids (my 10-year-old princess & 2-year-old prince), my relationship, & even matching God’s energy have a big play in why it can be difficult, but those responsibilities are also what motivates me most to keep going. I had to learn it takes a team because doing it on your own is possible but extra challenging. I feel as an artist, marketing can also be a frustration. Thank goodness for social media but sometimes it isn’t enough. Sometimes it seems as if to make it big time in the rap industry you have to be naked or be someone else and I will not change my morals for anyone.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of Candii Treats, LLC. Within my online retail company, I sell clothing, shoes, purses, lashes, etc. I’ve built my clientele up pretty well in the city. I can thank the Whitehorse Rd Flea Market on the weekends for that. I’m working towards a building that will be here very soon. I am very proud to say I am a college graduate with a Human Resource Management Certification. I also specialize in mechanical machines. Lately, I’ve been doing a new thing which is Makeup. I guess you can call me the jack of most trades. I just do not believe in one source of income at the moment. What sets me aside from others is actually knowing the feeling of losing it all and that’s why I work so hard to make sure I don’t end back into past situations and to make sure my kids have someone to look up to. To ensure my blessings, every month I also do a Food Drive for the not-so-fortunate. It makes my heart so warm to give back.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
More music is on the way so be on the lookout. And if you haven’t already checked me out, go listen to my music, I relate on a lot of levels. And also, just some advice. Pray to your God, lift your head high when you pose, do not quit but instead replan, and find something or someone that motivates you. Life gets hard but dreams do come true and hard work does pay off.
