Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Wright
Hi Morgan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sweet Carolina Bakery started as something really close to my heart. It all began with my daughter’s first birthday. I baked a cookie cake for her, and it was such a hit that it sparked something in me. From there, what was just baking for fun turned into friends and family asking for treats, which slowly grew into a real business. Every order feels like a little piece of myself, whether it’s a custom cake or a batch of cupcakes. It hasn’t always been easy balancing everything but seeing the joy my desserts bring to others makes it all worth it. This bakery is more than a business; it’s a dream I get to share with my community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but the challenges have made Sweet Carolina Bakery what it is today. One of the biggest struggles has been balancing my full-time job, being a mom, and running the bakery. There were times I’d stay up late perfecting designs or juggling last-minute orders while trying to keep everything else in life running smoothly. I’ve also had to navigate the business side of things like pricing, scheduling, ordering supplies, etc. But every struggle has taught me something valuable, whether it’s patience, better organization, or just the importance of believing in what I do. Seeing the joy on someone’s face when they get their custom cake makes every hurdle worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Sweet Carolina Bakery, I specialize in creating custom cakes and cupcakes that bring my customers’ visions to life. From birthday parties to weddings, I love crafting desserts that are as unique as the people celebrating. I’m probably best known for my attention to detail. Whether it’s intricate designs on cupcakes or themed cakes that capture a special moment, I put a lot of care into every order.
What I am most proud of is the connection I’ve built with my community. Many of my customers come back for multiple celebrations, and being part of those milestones means the world to me. What sets me apart is that I treat each order like it’s for my own family, with a focus on quality and a personal touch. I don’t just bake; I help create memories.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for finding a mentor or networking is to be open to learning from anyone, whether they’re in your field or not. For me, connecting with other bakers online and locally has been a huge help. Social media is great for finding inspirations, asking questions, and even collaborating. I’ve made some great connections by partnering with businesses that produce the products I use in my baking. Don’t be afraid to reach out, most people are happy to share advice.
A lot of my connections have come from working with customers or participating in community events. Building relationships is about showing up, being kind, and supporting others, and that’s worked really well for me.
