Rising Stars: Meet Katie Thierrien of Columbia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Thierrien

Hi Katie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up outside of Columbia, and ran off to Atlanta after high school to pursue opportunities in the film industry. There I had the privilege to work on some amazing projects, including beauty and special effects makeup for music videos, film, and photography, and I also started my wedding business, Beauty and the Brush. A decade later, Fate has brought me back to Columbia, where I am reintroducing my business and working alongside a talented team of artists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say the biggest struggle is maintaining steady work. I have always had to find a part time job that doesn’t need me more than 2-3 days a week, especially during my slow wedding seasons, which can be very difficult. I am always finding a new odd job, which can be interesting.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I will confidently deliver requests for any look, whether someone asks for the bare minimum, or full glam. My specialty is what I call natural glam. I love skin that looks like skin, with a beautiful eye look, and an amazing hairstyle.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up playing in my grandmas Mary Kay office, taking the samples, and getting in trouble for trying to wear makeup to elementary school.
