Today we’d like to introduce you to Grey Cox
Hi Grey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story all roots from My father Gregg Cox. My father owns Cox tree service the longest standing tree company in Charleston. He has always worked very hard and is very cautious and dedicated to make sure his jobs are perfected. I always wanted to start my own business following in his foot steps. When I was 14 years old I decided to go off on my own and get my LLC. I am now 19 years old and have been going strong for over 5 years. I enjoy every last bit of what I do. We love meeting and interacting with new clients and previous clients. One of my favorite things about this industry is having the ability to turn a run down yard into an oasis with the right amount of thought and dedication behind the work. I worked very hard to save up money and not buy the most amount of equipment but the nicest version of everything I need to correctly get a job done, which has done us very well. My thought behind that is I would rather have new equipment that works stronger and doesn’t break rather then a lot of older equipment. We have came a long ways in 5 years and look forward to expanding more and more in the years to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Majority of it has been a smooth road. There has been times throughout the winter that work slows down a bit and I wanted to give up and just go work a 9-5. Instead we fought through and found other niches and ways to make money such as selling milled wood and firewood. We also set up holiday decorations and lights. And not only that we recently started doing jobs such as painting, gutter cleaning and handyman jobs. The other issue we have encountered in the past was hurricane season. We had to sit back and think, we started seeing all of the potential work we could do to help homeowners prepare for the storms by trimming their trees, removing dead limbs and dead trees. Not everything is smooth riding but we push through the bumps and know that it will all work out with prayers and dedication.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in landscape installs, odd jobs and cleanups. Installs can be anything from rocks, mulch, pavers, edging, sod, dirt etc.. Our odd jobs consist of many services including but not limited to power washing, gutter cleaning, painting, handyman jobs, minor roof repairs, moving services and much more. Landscape cleanups are more just trimming bush’s, tree trimming, mulch bed cleanups, removing weeds and cutting yards. I am known for being not only a great landscaper but a good guy I love to help people out as much as I possibly can. We like our clients to feel like they have just as much a friendly relationship as a business relationship with us. We work very hard to ensure that our clients are satisfied with the completion of the job. We are especially known for our amazing comprehensive sod installs and having the greenest most lush grass growing in our clients yards.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I hope to get bigger and start doing more landscape contracting. We also would like to get into some bigger HOA jobs here in the near future. One of our goals is to build outdoor kitchens in years to come. I see my business growing tremendously in the next 5-10 years as long as I keep at it. I have an amazing assistant Alesandro who is helping us become the best landscaping company in town with his thorough work. We look forward to serving many more amazing clients.
