Today we’d like to introduce you to Endurance Pannell.
Hi Endurance, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Getting into this business started with me, a laptop, a mic, and a closet. I randomly got into music not taking it too seriously until, eventually I fell in love with it. From there I started building my home studio and taught myself (pulling tips from others in my life) how to record, mix, and master music. As time went on, I realized I needed music videos and a videographer. I was always into nature photography, so I ended up being gifted a Canon Camera. From there I got into people photography and came to the conclusion that it’s harder to find a fair priced videographer so I might as well do it myself. That’s where DLX Productions came into play. It means Don’t Lose and the ‘x’ is a variable that you could fill with anything (i.e. hope, faith, touch, drive). I invested in a high-end Sony camera and started getting into the videography business. I’m a music artist at heart and that always comes first, but since it aligns with Videography, I took on that task as well and that’s what brought me to where I am today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been the rockiest road ever. The biggest obstacle was me. Of course, I had to get over the common fears and nervousness of expressing my music and finding myself. I’d say the biggest thing was my pride. I had to learn to take constructive criticism and not get upset or give up because I felt people didn’t like my mixes even though I was trying my hardest. Going through self-doubt, along with staying afloat with everyday 9-5s and regular life. Having to put my love for creation aside due to losing jobs leading me to go into survival/hustle mode leaving no time for music or videography. I realized I had to dive headfirst into this when I got into a bad accident that totaled my car at the beginning of the year. I was injured and stuck at home so all I could do was music. This led me to deeply fall in love with it. It gave me tunnel vision. I didn’t have time for romance, negative energy, or people that I wasn’t aligned with in my craft or just regular views of life. Because the art of creation is my life.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make music mainly. I am an artist, producer, and engineer. I’d say I specialize in writing music/vocals. Some would say a rapper, but I believe I’m an artist of all. I make Rap, Rock, I also dabbled in Folk and country, I’ve made funk and pop as well. I coined the name VLS Endo. I’m mainly proud of how far I’ve come with my music. Seeing how I’ve grown, how my style changed, and how I flow over a beat. What sets me apart is the energy I bring and the wordplay. I come with new age flows and energy accompanied with substance and actual wordplay in my music. As far as videography I just bring people’s visions to life, making them stand out and using smooth edits that catches the audience’s attention.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Huge shoutout to my family, it started there. I’ve always been surrounded by music. My father owned a studio as well as my uncle, so music was all I knew. It started with this friend of mine in high school, Chris, and he made beats on this DAW called LMMS. He ended up giving me an old mic and I went from there. I had another homeboy, Aprlshwrs, who started making music with me and basically told me to keep going with it. My brother Seelife started dropping music around when I started, so he gave me tips and advice on tools to use and how to upgrade. Then my music elevated even more. Then my other brothers, Onetwenty, King, and LOAT, and my sister, Nygeria, got into music they helped in the creation processes and kept it straight up with me if stuff didn’t sound good telling me I needed to get better at mixing. It felt harsh at first, but it drove me to really sharpening my craft. In the recent year I met Daze.com and Kmillz who I started making music with. We became like brothers and created a collective called The BAND, standing for ‘Bringing A New Direction’. Through them I met 803Gee (an artist and videographer) who helped me out then and there with getting started in the Videographer business. Props to all of them, because recently I’ve been elevating to another level.
