Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Bonner
Destiny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Destiny Bonner, I am originally from South Florida but currently live in Nashville, TN with my amazing husband, two pups and our very first sweet baby girl on the way! I wear a few different hats, I am an artist/songwriter, a vocal coach/ director of my own online vocal studio, and content creator! Music is where I began and how I got my foot in the Nashville scene, my husband and I met via instagram when he was in a christian pop band with his siblings, ‘Bonray.’ We immediately fell in love and were married all within a year of meeting! I decided to move out to Nashville when we were engaged, since my husband had lived there since before we met and I was from a suburb of South Florida. Music was my only and main focus at the time in 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to be on NBC’s The Voice Season 17 making it to top 32! That really jumpstarted my career into the pop and sync music scene. I began writing and co-writing with insanely talented songwriters and producers which then led to me writing music for tv and film. You can most recently hear one of my songs on a Hallmark Christmas movie entitled “Catch Me If You Claus.’ I also released singles under my artist name DESTÍNA. All while this was picking up, I began my own online vocal coaching studio in 2022 called Destiny Rayne Voice Studio. I continued coaching and ended up expanding to having my talented friends join in too thus forming a team of around 8 of us total! I currently run my business and love it so much! I have been vocal coaching for nearly 10 years so opening up my own vocal coaching business that is based online, is a dream come true and has been such a treat for me to be able to walk alongside amazing singers and artists and get a front row seat to them achieving and reaching their goals! Content creation is another passion of mine especially since finding out I was pregnant I have dove farther into that world working with brands doing UGC, campaigns and genuinely love every minute of it! I have a passion to be a part of the amazing mama community and share products that I am genuinely passionate about. As of today, I am juggling all three of these avenues and expecting our first baby girl so very soon!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No road is smooth and perfect I have definitely had my share of struggles along the way. Before officially launching my own online vocal coaching studio, I had a couple students here and there that I coached online in 2020 and then unfortunately covid hit and suddenly I lost all of my students, also being a newlywed at the time, finances were tricky. It wasn’t until two years later that my husband was the one who really made me realize that I had a calling in coaching and he really helped me and paved the way for me to start and run my own online vocal coaching business. We decided to take a risk and market my business online and within a month I had 40 students! It truly was wild and that’s when I began expanding to bringing in my friends/other amazing vocal coaches on my team to continue expanding and two years later we have grown immensley and are continuing to grow! Overcoming those challenges has taught me to not be afraid to take a risk, you truly never know what may come of it!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist/songwriter, content creator and vocal coach/director of my own online vocal studio! I am passionate about music, creating art that is authentic yet fun and something you can genuinely jam in the car to. I am most proud of being on NBC’s The Voice when I was 23, it was, hands down, the scariest thing I’ve ever done yet the most rewarding because out of that experience; I not only grew as a person and artist, but I discovered more of who I am and what I am capable of especially when I am out of comfort zone. Taking a risk is always worth it.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me, is my faith and my family. I am a christian and a firm believer in God, putting God at the center and keeping Him there is definitely the reason and only reason why I am here today and why I do what I do. It is all for the kingdom and for His glory. I don’t do it for myself but for God and of course for my family.
