Today we’d like to introduce you to Ta’Jae Smith.
Hi Ta’Jae, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My father was a gangster he died when I was a young girl my mother is a business woman I had influence by the women in my family to be ambitious smart and well rounded with the kind of imagination i had I’ve always been creative and knew that I would be very successful having job experience at an early age I learned chain of command I wanted my own I feel in love with they way iy felt to make money and to do what I wanted with it before I was legally able to work I’ve always been told that I was wise and well beyond my years I went to cosmetology school at a career program during high school I graduated in 2015 as a licensed cosmetologist when I graduated I didn’t know what direction I wanted to go into, but I knew that I wanted to be an international business major studying Spanish. To receive a high paying career in the field, I quickly became in love with the aesthetics industry, getting my first gig, body waxing at a franchise. It came to an end after a year due to. discrimination I was always young and one that stood out amongst anybody else even as a young girl I never really felt like I found my place until now I realize I was never meant to fit in because I’m a star switching lanes I grew up studying Trya Banks Kimora Lee Simmons Run DMC daughters I had a passion for modeling and started at the young age of seveb. My mom would take me to gigs and I will model for clothing brands and shows. After high school I did gigs for Millie Lewis modeling school and decided to go solo as a wax artist. pretty Hustle came about when I was just a young teenager, looking to hustle and make money. My brand Goddess By Jae was created after realizing that working for other people didn’t make me rich, nor did it help me scale the ladder in any company I worked for I knew that I wanted to leave a legacy I knew that modeling for others wasn’t paying me enough. I knew that I wanted my time back and not only that I want freedom. I started off being intrigued with luxury waxing I heard a lot about fruit, chocolate, and sugar waxing, and Vajazzling I wanted to bring something to the industry that would be just as unique as myself so I did it and I was doing it for only $20. Those $20 were seeds into my business because by the end of the year I served more than 100+ people. And when I started, I didn’t have any clientele I had to figure out my own overhead. I was working a job that was funding my career I continue to educate myself to learn to grow I met influencers along the way that inspired me to take my brand to the next level I continue to scale my business teaching people what I know I’m pretty sure your favorite waxer was taught or aspired by me. I’m at a point in my career where I’m ready to expand my business and step from beyond just servicing not only that I’ve learned that investing plays a big role in what I wanna do with my entrepreneurship I’m truly thankful to everyone who has supported me through every season of my career. I’m the best I’ve ever been and I’ve always wanted to become the person I am now and I would love for people to see more of my personality
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s always struggles along the way I believe the biggest is not having mentorship and financial literacy. We’re all just learning as go. believe it or not your upbringing plays a role in your decision making the biggest things is to learn so that you can keep moving ahead

I specialize in professional body waxing not waxing but luxury waxing I’m a quality not quantity professional and my chocolate wax is what I’m most known for what sets me apart from others in this industry is my diversity not just in myself but the people I service and my social media is a public portfolio of my work I’m also skilled in hair care, barbering, eyelash extensions, teeth whitening and gem caviar, eyebrow tattooing, brow threading, pretty much all things glamorous as a master cosmetologist.
