Hi Shadaa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Foamagic was started in 2020 during the Covid-19 Pandemic. It started in Jamaica (Foamagic Limited), and since then, we’ve tried to find a suitable place in the USA (Foamagic America (FA)) to launch the business module. Initially, we operated as a DBA in New Jersey in 2022 but were greatly affected due to the extreme weather conditions. This led us to expand to South Carolina. South Carolina is the place that’s uniquely suited for us. As we started in Jamaica, so have we done here. Back then, we used what we had in starting, and likewise, we are doing the same, hence the reason we’re detailing from a sports car. I have seen the venture’s gradual progress, which will take off big shortly. Where we are today is a testament that people will support you once you provide a great service that meets a need. We’ve received the warmest welcome to Charleston and the State of South Carolina in general, and no doubt that has strengthened the drive to succeed. Everyone we’ve spoken to or who has used our services believes that Foamagic America will do wonders here.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has undoubtedly been a rough road, but every challenge provides an opportunity to learn and grow stronger. A huge challenge is detailing the sports car. In this business, we need space, a tank, a pressure washer, a vacuum, a hose, cleaning products, etc.; needless to say that a 2-door car is not the most suitable, but we make it work. We have been using the water of customers, which forms a limitation in waiting until they are available at home; whereas, if we had a bigger unit, we’d be equipped with a tank and could detail or wash anywhere. There is always the challenge of getting customers in the door, in our case, getting to their door. With the level of spam that a person gets daily, it takes a lot of work to navigate the floods with a small boat of convenience. However, those who interact with us experience the tranquility of their comfort zone and still enjoy the benefits of our services.
We’ve been impressed with Foamagic America, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
Foamagic America is a general cleaning company providing Home, Auto, and Business Services. Our services range from housekeeping to pressure washing, mobile detailing and car washing, Janitorial, and Commercial cleaning. We offer convenience as the hallmark of our service provision. After all, our slogan is “Where convenience meets efficiency and innovation.” We clean anything that gets dirty; often, we clean things that people don’t even know could be cleaned. A significant part of what we do is to bring awareness to our clients and to educate them on the care of their property as it relates to cleaning. Usually, this helps to keep the value of said property high. For example, a car detailed twice per year and maintained monthly will have a higher value than a less cared-for vehicle. We’re known for our detailing packages “Basic Charm,” Premium Charm,” and “The Ultimate Magic Touch.” We also have membership plans for customers and an investment option providing members with passive income. This has worked in other jurisdictions and will no doubt be a major factor in the growth of the business module here in America.
We’re in a business that is unique in that it’s optional, but for anyone who takes pride in appearance, this is a necessity. Because of this, we aim to segment the population of those who meet all the criteria for this business. The competition exists, and while they help to bring awareness to the wider society, we differ in that, with Foamagic America, it’s about more than just getting to the next customer. We pride ourselves in providing value and quality work that will speak in our absence. Sometimes we need to be more satisfied than the customer; the team gets satisfaction from seeing our clients’ responses when they see the finished product. We got into this for the love of it, and that’s what sets us apart from the rest. Diversity is another key indicator of where we set a distinction with our competitors. Yes, specialization has its benefits, but with the module we’ve created, we’ve specialized sections of a wider business instead of just specializing in one aspect. Yes, our detail team can still do carpet cleaning, but for efficiency, we specialize in the teams, and this is the same concept that we are bringing and have started to do in Charleston. We are covering all segments of the cleaning industry for where we are, and there is a piece of cake for everyone. Our proudest achievement is how the business module fits into the broader vision of growing a brand from scratch. We started from humble beginnings, and what has kept us and will continue to push us is the zeal and integrity from those beginnings.
We have added, along with other benefits, Government workers, Military, and First Responder discounts that automatically apply to your online booking. We are appointments only, so we provide services on your time. For the Auto spa section, we offer a pick-up service, whereby if your complex or workplace does not allow us to complete your job on-premises, we’ll get it, clean it, and take it back to you. So you could drive to work in a filthy car and go home with that same car looking brand new, and as our customers usually say, “newer than they got it when they bought it,” all without moving a muscle because Foamagic America has you covered. Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
This is a great question! I credit all of my success to God. While I have asked for help here and there and have had many professional help, I am still searching for a mentor. I do believe in mentorship and want to provide that myself. Word of mouth works well in this state, and while I may not have found a mentor, I have gotten a lot of advice and support. I would say once you believe in the dream and the vision, there is no doubt that God will bring the right persons in your path as you need.
