Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Deans
Hi Rebecca, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
SHIFT into Organized started as a bit of a happy accident. I’ve always been an organized person — even as a kid, I loved finding ways to make my space feel calm and functional. But the idea of turning that passion into a business wasn’t really on my radar until a few friends encouraged me to give it a try.
In 2021, after 10 years in the medical field, I took the leap and started SHIFT into Organized. At first, it was just me helping people declutter and create systems that made their homes feel more peaceful. What I quickly realized was that this work went far beyond tidying up. For so many of my clients, getting organized wasn’t just about their physical space — it brought clarity and ease to their lives as a whole. That’s what really fueled me to grow SHIFT into what it is today.
Now, we’re a team helping clients across Charleston with home and business organization and concierge moves. The name “SHIFT into Organized” reflects my philosophy that you don’t need a massive overhaul to make a space feel better — small, intentional shifts can make the biggest difference. Watching our clients experience that transformation has been the most rewarding part of this journey.
The journey from healthcare to home organization may seem unexpected, but at the core, it’s always been about the same thing: helping people feel better in their environments. And for me, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the relief and joy on a client’s face when they experience the shift.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think starting a business is ever a completely smooth road — and SHIFT into Organized was no exception! In the beginning, it was just me, so I wore all the hats. I was the organizer, the scheduler, the marketer, the bookkeeper… you name it. Learning to balance working in the business with working on the business was definitely a challenge.
Another hurdle was building trust. Inviting someone into your home to help organize your personal spaces is incredibly vulnerable, and I never took that lightly. I had to learn how to communicate the value of what we do — that we’re not just tidying up but creating systems that bring ease and functionality to everyday life.
As the business grew, so did the need for a team, which brought its own learning curve. Delegating and building a team culture that aligns with my vision was a big step, but it’s been so worth it. Every challenge along the way has taught me something valuable, and I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. It’s been a journey, but one I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about SHIFT into Organized?
SHIFT into Organized is all about creating spaces that bring ease, flow, and functionality to everyday life. We specialize in home and business organization and concierge moves — but what we’re really known for is our personalized approach. No two spaces (or clients) are the same, so we focus on understanding each person’s needs and lifestyle to create systems that actually work for them.
One thing that sets us apart is that we do the heavy lifting for our clients. When we come into a space, our team handles the organizing process from start to finish — it’s not about standing over someone while they sort through their things. We’re there to take the overwhelm out of the equation and create sustainable solutions that make life simpler.
I’m incredibly proud of the trust we’ve built with our clients. Inviting someone into your home or business to reorganize your personal spaces is a big step, and the fact that people trust us with that is something I’ll never take for granted. We’ve built a reputation for being compassionate, efficient, and judgment-free, which means everything to me.
If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s that getting organized doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. It’s not about being perfect — it’s about creating systems that support you and make life feel a little lighter. Whether you need a complete overhaul, help settling into a new home, or just a refresh, we’re here to help make the process simple and even enjoyable.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that surprises a lot of people is that even though I’ve always been organized, I still feel the impact of clutter on my energy and mood. Life gets busy, and things pile up — I’m not immune to that just because this is my job! I’ve learned firsthand how much our environment affects our nervous system. When my space is out of sync, I can feel my stress levels rise and my patience wear thin.
I think that’s why I’m so passionate about what I do. Organization isn’t about being perfect; it’s about creating systems that make life easier and give you back a sense of calm. I know what a difference it makes for me, and being able to help others experience that shift is incredibly fulfilling.
