Meet Olivia Klein of Charleston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Klein.

Hi Olivia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started the Simply Livy G business because I loved creating designs and helping others! It all started at the beginning of August 2022 when I started taking art classes at Charleston Southern University for my major in Graphic Design. My professor had told the class that if we wanted to have a successful graphic design business, we should start ASAP. Therefore, after completing my classes that day, I went home and sprung into action! Honestly, I thought I would have needed to be more successful initially. My first client was a small flower shop called Bird’s Nest Florist and Gifts on Ladson in Goose Creek, and my job was to help bring in more customers through their social media and draw cute chalkboard drawings for their customers. I hadn’t worked a job like this before, so everything was new to me, but I was determined and quickly got the hang of it. I have so much fun making posts, stories, and reels and reaching out to other small businesses in the area! Now that my business has been running for several months, I have learned and grown so much. I love my job and what I do, helping others and making my customers/clients smile, and I plan on doing this for as long as possible.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since I am a college student finding time to manage Simply Livy G while needing to study, sleep, eat, have a social life, be on time for cheer practice, etc., was very difficult for me. Still, I eventually won that battle by creating a daily schedule that worked around what I had to do that specific day and time. I had to learn how to become flexible as well. The obstacles/challenges that will be thrown at you are difficult but will only make you stronger. With every business comes its challenges, whether they may be big or small. I have overcome and won many obstacles, which were challenging at the time, on this new journey of mine, and I haven’t and don’t plan on giving up. If you are starting a business, don’t give up! You got this, and don’t be so hard on yourself if you don’t get it right the first time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I mainly create customizable graphics and help with social media by taking pictures, creating posts, reels, stories, etc., but I also post lifestyle and wellness tips and tricks on my accounts as something fun to create. My slogan is “simple designs made with love,” It is nothing but the truth. I put so much thought, effort, heart, and soul into every design I create, whether it is for me, something fun to post, or a client/customer.

I am most proud of how far I have come with my small business and that I haven’t given up and pushed through the hard and most difficult times. I never would’ve thought I would have a client and been asked to do an interview this early in my business journey, and I wouldn’t if it wasn’t for the hard work and dedication that I poured into Simply Livy G at the beginning. I am very thankful for my clients/customers, family, and friends who have helped, motivated, and pushed me through this journey.

What sets me apart from other graphic design businesses is that I create and help with multiple tasks for social media. I create logos, social media posts, sticker/magnet designs, and anything else my customers/clients may need a creative, hard-working, and dedicated mind for.

Let’s end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
What matters most to me is making my customers/clients happy! I know that is what every business owner says, but that is indeed what matters most to me.
