Today we’d like to introduce you to Marquetta Cason.

Hi Marquetta, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Marquetta Cason, a South Carolina-based entrepreneur, REALTOR®, life insurance broker, and certified spiritual life coach. My journey has been anything but linear and I’ve learned to embrace that as my superpower. I started in the corporate world working in finance and healthcare, but over time I felt a strong pull toward building something more aligned with who I am; something rooted in authenticity, service, and personal transformation.

After years of observing and preparing behind the scenes, I stepped fully into entrepreneurship. I launched two businesses that reflect different pieces of who I am: financial protection through The Cason Group Insurance Agency and soul work through Better Balance Holistic Wellness. Each one allows me to serve others in meaningful ways whether it’s helping someone secure their family’s future or get in tune with their most highest self.

I also became a licensed REALTOR® with Bluefield Realty Group because I genuinely love helping people find stability, opportunity, and freedom through real estate. Homeownership is more than a transaction; it’s a step toward generational wealth and personal peace. I work especially hard for first-time homebuyers and clients who never thought homeownership was possible for them.

What got me here wasn’t just ambition. It was a deep desire to live with purpose, show others what’s possible, and break cycles. I’m proud to say I’m self-employed full time, building a legacy for my son, and creating safe affirming spaces for others to do the same.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely not been smooth. Entrepreneurship, especially in industries like real estate and life insurance, comes with its fair share of challenges. I’ve dealt with my share of shady people, empty promises, and transactional mindsets. There have been moments where I’ve been more invested in someone’s legacy, financial stability, and peace of mind than they were, and that kind of emotional labor can be incredibly draining. It’s heartbreaking when you care deeply about helping others secure their future but they don’t see the value until it’s too late.

As a life insurance broker, one of the biggest struggles has been shifting mindsets around death and money. Many people avoid the conversation altogether out of fear or misinformation, and others think they’ll “get to it later.” Later often never comes and I’ve seen families left scrambling because no one wanted to talk about the inevitable.

In real estate, the emotional highs and lows are constant. Deals fall through at the last minute. Clients change their minds. The market can shift overnight. And because I truly care, I find myself feeling what my clients feel, whether it’s the joy of getting the keys or the disappointment of things not working out. I don’t just sell homes. I walk with people through major life transitions, and that comes with a weight many don’t see.

But even with all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade this path for anything. Every challenge has taught me how to lead with more empathy, more strategy, and more resilience.

I wear a few hats, but they all flow from the same core; helping people find peace, protection, and purpose.

As a REALTOR® with Bluefield Realty Group, I specialize in working with first-time homebuyers and clients who need someone to truly walk with them through the process. I don’t believe in pressure tactics or cookie cutter approaches. My clients know me for being patient, honest, and fiercely dedicated to helping them make informed, confident decisions. I treat each transaction with care because for many of my clients, this isn’t just a purchase. It’s a new chapter.

As a life insurance broker and owner of The Cason Group Insurance Agency, I help families protect their financial futures with integrity. I educate my clients so they understand what they’re getting and why it matters. It’s not just about a policy. It’s about peace of mind while you’re living and protection when you’re gone. I’m especially passionate about helping those who’ve been overlooked or intimidated by the industry.

Through Better Balance Holistic Wellness, I guide people on a deeper journey of self discovery and healing. As a certified spiritual life coach and Reiki master, I help my clients reconnect with their highest selves and live in alignment with their truth. I offer coaching, energy work, and tools for spiritual growth in a space that is inclusive, affirming, and completely free from religious expectations.

What sets me apart is how I blend professionalism with authenticity. I’m not interested in surface level success. I want to see people truly thrive emotionally, financially, and spiritually. I don’t just do the work. I live it. And I lead with heart every step of the way.

I’m most proud of building all of this from the ground up as a single mother, full time entrepreneur, and woman committed to breaking cycles. I’ve created a life that feels good to me and allows others to do the same, and that means everything.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Authenticity, without a doubt.

I’ve learned that showing up as my full self — flaws, wisdom, humor, and heart — is not only freeing, it’s magnetic. People can feel when you’re being real with them. In every part of my work, whether I’m helping someone buy a home, secure life insurance, or reconnect with their highest self, I lead with honesty, empathy, and intention.

I don’t try to be what I think people want. I just am. And that’s what builds trust, creates impact, and keeps people coming back. Authenticity has allowed me to connect on a soul level, not just a service level, and that’s the kind of success that truly matters to me.
