Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Kuzminsky.
Hi Madeline, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was in school, I knew I wanted to be in an industry surrounded by people and environments that spark creativity and connection. In 2017, I began my cinematography journey in the world of sports. I quickly realized filmmaking was something I was very passionate about, but I struggled with the medium being sports. I then learned that Charleston, SC has a huge wedding industry, and I wanted to be a part of it. In 2021 I started my business, and as of July of 2024, my husband Joe has joined in on the fun, so we are now a husband and wife cinema team! Documenting and creating films of such milestone moments is truly an honor, and we are so lucky to have so many amazing couples who trust us and allow us into their lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being an entrepreneur always comes with many highs, but also some struggles. It’s very easy to compare your work to others’, especially being on social media. But it’s important to take a step back and realize that we are unique in what we offer and to focus on our own growth and success. You can never grow your own business while focusing on other’s. Even with the struggles, we’ve been very blessed with so many couples who have trusted us these last 4 years and are so grateful that we get to continue to push boundaries and grow every year.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a husband and wife team of wedding filmmakers based in the Southeast and available worldwide. We specialize in extravagant multi-day events for couples who want a romantic and celebratory wedding film to preserve memories from those special days for a lifetime. Our film style is natural with a cinematic touch and attention to detail, capturing all of the real and authentic moments throughout the wedding weekend.
We are most proud of how far we have come in the last few years since starting Madeline Kuzminsky Films in 2021. And it all wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible past and future clients!
What sets us apart from other wedding filmmakers is that we create a seamless experience from when clients book until when their film is delivered. We believe that making people feel comfortable and celebrated on their wedding day is of the utmost importance. We will never make a couple do anything they are uncomfortable with, and we live for authentic and real moments that organically present themselves. Every one of our wedding films is different and unique to each couple because of this.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Some advice for those just starting their business would be to get out in your community and meet people in your industry. Connections go such a long way in the world we live in, and the phrase ‘it’s not what you know, it’s who you know’ is so very true!
