Today we’d like to introduce you to Leigh Sauvageau.
Hi Leigh, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It’s a long and strange journey, but one that has aligned exactly as it’s meant to.
I grew up with an intense fascination of the paranormal fueled by an interest in American history. As a kid, I’d rather spend weekends touring Civil War- era mansions and cemeteries than playing with friends or going to the mall. I did, however, also have a deep love of performing and musical theatre, which was probably a saving grace for my social life. My love of all things spooky combined with the superstition that comes with being raised in the theatre created the perfect storm for a passion for tarot and all things metaphysical.
I was 18 when I got my first tarot deck and I was immediately hooked. That deck became my closet confidant, seeing me through losses, breakups, cross country moves and everything in between. It still lives in my car, held together by the same lime green scrunchie.
Though I loved tarot, my main focus for most of my life was theatre. I moved to New York City and attended a musical theatre conservatory and then eventually graduating with a BFA in Musical Theatre from The New School in Manhattan. It wasn’t until January of 2022 that my true path revealed itself.
I’ve experienced a significant amount of loss and trauma for someone who hasn’t even hit 40 yet. I lost my mom at 21, my best friend at 27, an ex at 33, my closest cousin at 34- but it was a miscarriage in January of 2022 that was the catalyst of my first spiritual awakening. Through all of my previous losses, I’d chosen to drink it away, numbing the pain and keeping it moving. But, when I lost the baby, I knew I was at a crossroads. I could either handle it the way I’d always handled loss, or I could choose to heal- and that’s what I did. I discovered chakras, I began taking actual tarot courses, I became reiki certified. It was like the world cracked open.
Fast forward four years later and I’m the proud co-owner of a brick-and-mortar healing space in downtown Myrtle Beach, SC called The Inner Light. I’m an intuitive tarot reader, reiki master, and energetic sound healer. I’m a mama to a 1 1/2 year old little girl named Lucy who is the light of my life. I am living the life of my dreams, and my purpose is to help others do the same. Through the use of multiple metaphysical modalities, I aid my clients in processing unresolved traumas and emotions so that they can stand in their power, take up space, and remember who they are- the main character of their own lives! That is my passion and my purpose and I am so grateful and honored to hold that space.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! But that’s what’s made it beautiful. I’m a strong believer that our Tower moments shape us into exactly who we are meant to be. The Tower card is the 16th card in the Major Arcana of the Tarot deck. At first glance, its imagery is frightening. A tower is getting struck by lightning, people are either falling or jumping out of the windows, the foundation is shaken. It represents those moments in life that feel bigger than us- deaths, divorces, job losses- those earth shattering moments that leave us standing amongst the rubble of what used to be our life. But, we get a choice. How do we want to rebuild? What does life get to look like now? It’s a full assessment of where we were before, where we are now, and where we are heading. Do you want to rebuild another tower? Maybe this time it’s a cottage or a mansion? You get to choose- and that’s what makes it beautiful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My business and brand name is Leigh In Tune. I am an intuitive tarot reader, reiki master, and energetic sound healer. I am also a professional singer (In Tune…get it?). I’m known for getting down to the nitty gritty- I’m not the tarot reader that you go to for a light and airy reading. I am here for the people who are ready to change their lives. Last year, I was asked to read tarot on an Emmy nominated reality show called Traveling The Spectrum, streaming on Peacock. That was definitely a career highlight! I think what I’m most proud of, though, is my ability to provide a safe, honest space for transparency and healing for my clients. It is never lost on me what an honor it is to be welcomed into someone’s most intimate worries, fears, triumphs. It’s a beautiful blessing, and its one I am extremely grateful for.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Honestly, just existing as a spiritual healer in a conservative southern town is a risk in itself. Coming out of the “psychic closet” in a very public way has been the biggest risk I’ve taken – but I hope that by living my truth out loud, it can help others to be comfortable to do the same.
