Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Eibert Keigley.
Hi Lacey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m one of those people who say, “Oh, I love this. You might love it too. Here – try it!”
Or a person who says, “What? You love the color green and dogs whose names start with the letter R? That’s wild. My friend Bob wears only green shirts and his dog’s name is Rooster. You have to meet!”
I just love connecting people.
My business – Travelers Rest Here.com – is really just that sort of business. I want to connect my readers with what I believe they’ll love in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is anything a smooth road?
But – if it was a smooth road, would we learn anything or have any epic stories to tell?
No – I don’t think there are truly smooth roads.
One of the struggles has been doing actual business – making profitable. At first I left a lot of money on the table. In fact, I still probably do. I have had to learn the actual financial value of what I bring to my clients and I have had to be willing to say – this is worth that.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I connect my readers to businesses and relationships and people in the Upstate area of South Carolina. I direct them toward the ideal home builder for their needs or the greatest spot to get a crepe or where they should hike if their kids are under five.
It’s really all about the connections and the relationships.
Helping people find other people.
Small businesses are the heartbeat of our town and they are the heartbeat of my business. Mom and Pop shops, companies run by a several generations, knowing that the owner’s daughter plays on your kid’s soccer team or just sent her baby to college.
I think all of that is actually what sets me apart – relationships with real human beings. And – letting businesses be run by actual humans. It cannot be constant and relentless. We need breaks and understanding, empathy when the bad days come or the hurricanes hit or the delivery doesn’t come through on time.
I think genuineness matters.
I am proud of the fact that the me you see online and in my newsletter is the same me in the grocery store and at the gas station.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love best about Travelers Rest is that it is still perfectly routine to see my friends out and about randomly. I might be at a coffee shop and see a work friend. I might walk along the trail and run into a buddy. I like that our town still feels like a community.
