Today we’d like to introduce you to Kandice Hanley.
Kandice, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I joined the Communications program at Columbia International University in 2009, picked up my first DSLR and never looked back.
It was something I always wanted to do but had not had the opportunity until then. I fell in love immediately!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Becoming a professional photographer can be quite a long road. A big factor in deciding that depends on where you live as well as the culture and spending habits of people around you, A thriving portrait studio will need to be in a place where people desire quality and are willing to pay for it. The market is constantly changing, trends come and go and online services have more options than ever, so creating a business model and style that stands out is non-negotiable. Marketing is the hardest part.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have a background in psychology alongside my passion to create. I am a certified interior designer as well- this helps create magical scenery in fine art portraits. I wanted to become a counselor prior to picking up my camera. Spent years helping others and now I can do that by teaching women how to see themselves in a beautiful way. I help others achieve, to build, to be self-confident and empowered through portrait work and content creation. My studio is set apart because I provide luxury services like professional hair and makeup, wardrobe, creating high-end portraits, and bespoke heirlooms. We believe in the power of print and also incredible service and experiences. I am well known for my ability to pose and light people effortlessly. I guide each client into a comfortable no-fail photoshoot experience. We have fun and my clients are thrilled with their artwork. Our services transform the way women see themselves and that is priceless. This is the place to come for something extra.
