Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessa Stewart.
Hi Jessa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I taught fourth grade at Lake Murray Elementary School in Chapin and taught dance at the Dance Dept in Irmo. I loved both jobs so much. As our family grew, I had to reconsider holding both jobs. I left teaching school and taught dance for a few years. As my children got older, I would work as they got home from school. We have 4 children, now 14, 12, 10, and 7. I’ve always loved retail. I had the opportunity to run a gift shop in Chapin and loved every minute. I decided to open Westmore in 2020. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s hard work, but I love every minute. My incredible team allows me to run the store and be a mom. It’s a win-win!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I signed my lease to open Westmore in March of 2020. Covid pushed us back to June of 2020. Opening a new business during that time provided a lot of challenges, but our customers have poured out to support us since day one. What an incredible community we live in and serve. Thankful is an understatement!
