Hi Jenny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Philosophers & Fools was created from a love of reading and enjoying a nice glass of wine or a beer while doing so. My husband and I talked for years about opening a cozy bookstore bar in Charleston where people could gather and do just that. One day we decided to make our dream a reality.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening a new business comes with its set of challenges, some expected and some unexpected. We are lucky to have built a network of people and resources to help us address those challenges along the way both leading up to opening and now into our first year of business. The challenges are what make every day interesting!

Philosophers & Fools is a cozy neighborhood bookstore bar located in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood of Charleston, SC. We carry new books for sale across all genres in the hopes that no matter what you like to read you can find something that interests you on our shelves. We also serve wine (sustainable/organic/natural) and craft beer, coffee & tea, as well as an assortment of snacks and toasties (pressed hot sandwiches). We have a space for book clubs to meet and seating where friends can meet up for a drink or a customer can come in solo and read, do work, or just hang out.
