Meet Jeff Matz of Via Nova Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Matz.

Hi Jeff, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into functional medicine really grew out of a deep frustration with the way conventional healthcare was failing people.
My education and background is as a chiropractor. I went on to earn a Master of Science degree in exercise physiology, which gave me a strong foundation in both structural health and the deeper science of how the body functions as a whole. I pursued extensive post-doctoral training across multiple disciplines, because I knew that truly helping people with complex, chronic conditions required more than any single specialty could offer.
I began practicing in 2009, and over the past 15-plus years, I’ve had the privilege of helping patients who had run out of answers elsewhere.
Today, we specialize in autoimmune conditions, hormonal imbalances, GI disorders, diabetes management, peptide therapy, and weight management, among other areas. The name Via Nova means “new path,” and that really captures what we’re about helping people find a new path to their health by resolving underlying causes the conventional road has left unresolved. It’s not about quick fixes. It’s about restoring balance and helping people live full, vibrant lives and being empowered to do so.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This type of practice is very hands on. We go on the patients health journey with them. We experience the successes but more importantly the failures. That lends itself to a lot of reflection, how could this have been done better, or how could this interaction been smoother. We are helping people with their single biggest asset which is their health, without your health you have nothing.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Via Nova Health is a functional medicine clinic. Everything we do is built around one core belief: that most people deserve better answers than they’ve been given. We specialize in getting to the root cause of health challenges rather than simply treating symptoms, and that distinction is everything.
What we’re known for is taking on the patients that conventional medicine has often failed. These are people who’ve had tests run, been told their results look “normal,” and yet they’re still struggling with chronic conditions and symptoms that no one has been able to explain. That’s who we exist for.
In terms of what we treat, our areas of specialization include autoimmune conditions, things like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Hashimotos, multiple sclerosis and more. Hormonal imbalances, like GI disorders, gut health, diabetes management, environmental-related conditions. Peptide therapy for energy, recovery, immune support and weight management. Comprehensive lab analysis, nutrition management, and lifestyle management. It’s a wide scope, but it’s all connected by the same philosophy: treating the body as a whole instead of all these segmented “specialized” systems that traditional medicine tries to treat independent of one another.
What sets us apart is our depth of experience and our approach. We’ve been doing this since 2009, over 15 years. We use advanced, evidence-based testing and multi-disciplinary training to see things that standard care often misses. When a patient comes to us, they’re not getting a 10-minute appointment and a prescription. They’re getting a real partnership.
Brand-wise, what I most want readers to know is that the name Via Nova means “new path” and that’s not just a name, it’s a promise. We see wellness as a journey, not a quick fix. If you’ve been dismissed, misdiagnosed, or simply told to “manage” your condition for the rest of your life, I want you to know there may be another option. We’re here to help people find that new path to a full, wholesome life.

How do you think about happiness?
Seeing people be empowered to mange, help, and support their own health journey. Then seeing them take ownership of their health and the realization that I can do this and in doing so having resolution to issues that plagued the for years and decades. Having symptoms they were told would be apart of their lives moving forward go away. Most importantly hearing their stories about their participation in their families lives that was once lost. The trips, walks, afternoon excursions, and playing with loved ones that they would miss out on because of their various conditions now because those issues are behind them they get to once again participate in life instead of watching it go by.
