Meet Jasmine Guest-Sanders of J Creative Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Guest-Sanders.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career in philanthropy — reviewing community grants, learning how foundations make funding decisions, and seeing firsthand the incredible work happening at the grassroots level. Over time, that experience led me into nonprofit and healthcare grant management, where I’ve spent years managing more than 20 state and federal grants and supporting programs that truly change lives.

Along the way, I realized something powerful: so many organizations have the passion and purpose, but not always the time, systems, or support to communicate their impact effectively. That gap inspired me to launch J Creative Consulting, a boutique brand and strategy studio helping women-led nonprofits and small businesses strengthen their messaging, build fundraising confidence, and grow sustainably.

For a long time, it felt like I was working in separate worlds — philanthropy, healthcare, creative strategy — but now I see how they connect. Those paths have shaped an integrated expertise in grant writing, donor engagement, equity-centered storytelling, and systems design. Through J Creative, I get to bring all those pieces together to help organizations grow with clarity and impact.

At the heart of my work is a passion for health equity and women of color leadership — bridging vision with resources and helping changemakers tell their stories boldly. My journey has really been about finding the balance between strategy and story, compliance and creativity — and using that mix to make mission-driven work shine.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but every part of the journey has shaped who I am today.

When I launched J Creative Consulting, I was balancing a full-time career in healthcare grant management, building my business on nights and weekends, and, most recently, navigating life as a first-time mom. Learning to give myself grace in the process has been one of my biggest lessons. There’s this constant pull between ambition and alignment — between wanting to do it all and realizing that sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is slow down and lead with purpose.

Another challenge has been finding my authentic voice in a world that often feels chaotic — where resources for those who need them most are diminishing, and the pace of everything keeps accelerating. I’ve had to learn that my role isn’t to do everything, but to help bridge the gap — connecting businesses, nonprofits, and underserved communities with the tools and strategies they need to create lasting change.

As a woman of color, entrepreneur, and mother, I’ve had to redefine what success looks like — it’s not just about scaling a business, but about building systems that allow others to thrive too. The challenges have been real: time, energy, balance, and the emotional weight of caring deeply about the work. But those same challenges fuel my passion to help others rise, especially those doing good in spaces where support can feel scarce.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At its core, J Creative Consulting was built to help mission-driven people show up with confidence and clarity. I work with nonprofits, small businesses, and women-led organizations to strengthen their brands, refine their messaging, and build systems that support sustainable growth.

We specialize in three main areas:

Brand Strategy & Design – helping clients clarify their voice, visuals, and values so their brand truly reflects who they are.

Grant Development & Capacity Building – creating strategies and toolkits that help organizations attract and manage funding with ease.

Creative Storytelling & Marketing – bringing data, impact, and emotion together to help missions connect deeply with audiences and donors.

What sets J Creative apart is the balance between creativity and compliance — I don’t just design, and I don’t just write grants. I help organizations see the bigger picture: how their story, systems, and structure work together to create long-term sustainability. My clients often tell me that working with J Creative feels like having both a strategist and a creative director in one — someone who understands the heart and the homework behind growth.

One of the projects I’m most proud of is the launch of Rise SC, a statewide hub connecting families impacted by chronic illness to care, support, and community resources. Our pilot phase focuses on sickle cell disease, a condition that deeply affects families across South Carolina but often lacks centralized, easy-to-access information. Rise SC doesn’t duplicate what’s already out there; instead, it brings together the incredible programs and organizations already doing the work — helping families find them faster and encouraging stronger collaboration across the state.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that J Creative feels human. Every logo, toolkit, and campaign is created with intention — no cookie-cutter templates, just strategy rooted in purpose. My goal is for every client to walk away not just with deliverables, but with confidence — knowing how to tell their story, attract support, and stand tall in their impact.

At the end of the day, J Creative Consulting and Rise SC share the same mission: to build bridges between vision and visibility, creativity and capacity, and people and purpose. That’s the heartbeat of everything I do.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’d love readers to know that impact doesn’t always start big — it starts with alignment. Whether you’re leading a nonprofit, running a small business, or just nurturing an idea that keeps you up at night, you don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. What matters most is starting with intention and surrounding yourself with people and systems that help your vision grow.

Through J Creative Consulting, I’ve learned that creativity is more than design — it’s problem-solving, storytelling, and strategy in motion. And through Rise SC, I’ve seen how data, compassion, and collaboration can change the way communities connect to care. Both projects remind me daily that purpose and structure can co-exist — that we can build something beautiful and sustainable at the same time.

As a new mom, a woman of color, and a lifelong learner, I’m constantly reminded that balance isn’t about doing everything; it’s about doing the right things with heart. My hope is that my story encourages others to own their voice, take up space, and lead boldly — especially in times that feel uncertain.

To anyone reading this who’s passionate about community impact, creative strategy, or health equity — I’d love to connect. Together, we can reimagine what it looks like to build with purpose, tell stories that inspire, and create systems that last.
