Meet Greg Price of Advanced Laser Restoration LLC

Greg, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my career as a carpenter at 16, which laid the foundation for my passion for craftsmanship and design. In 2005, at 24, I transitioned into professional kitchen design and opened my first design center in a Chicago suburb. This venture taught me invaluable lessons in customer service and navigating complex design challenges.

While working in the kitchen and bath industry, I discovered an emerging LED lighting product called “Tape Light” in late 2009. Recognizing its untapped potential, I turned it into a thriving business, eventually selling my design center in 2014 to focus on the growing lighting brand. By 2018, I accepted an offer to sell the company, which allowed me to innovate further by developing and patenting a two-wire tunable white lighting technology in 2020.

After selling that patent, I shifted my focus to laser technology, founding Advanced Laser Restoration LLC and ALR Equipment LLC. My mission is to revolutionize the laser cleaning industry, driving growth and innovation in this emerging market.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a business, especially in new and emerging technologies, is never a smooth road. Along the way, I’ve faced numerous challenges, including manufacturing setbacks, the impacts of COVID-19, navigating an uncertain economy, tariffs, and a host of other obstacles. Each hurdle tested my resolve, but through resilience and perseverance, I continued to push forward. These experiences have taught me that while the path may be difficult, determination and adaptability can overcome even the toughest challenges. I’ve learned to embrace the journey, no matter what comes my way.

I absolutely consider myself a risk-taker. I believe that taking calculated risks is essential for growth, both personally and professionally. Without risk, there’s no innovation, and without innovation, there’s no progress. For me, risk isn’t about recklessness—it’s about identifying opportunities, weighing the potential rewards against the challenges, and having the courage to move forward even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was pivoting from a successful kitchen design business to dive into the emerging world of LED lighting. At the time, the technology was underdeveloped, and there were no guarantees it would succeed. But I saw an opportunity and trusted my instincts, which ultimately paid off as the business grew and later led to a patent and acquisition.

Another major risk came when I ventured into laser technology. The field was still niche, with significant barriers to entry, including manufacturing hurdles and navigating a market unfamiliar with the potential of laser cleaning. Despite these challenges, I embraced the risk, founded Advanced Laser Restoration LLC and ALR Equipment LLC, and have been working to expand this cutting-edge industry ever since.

I’ve learned that risk is part of every great story. It teaches resilience, fosters creativity, and opens doors to opportunities you might never have discovered otherwise. While the road can be uncertain, I’ve found that taking risks with intention and preparation can lead to incredible rewards.
