Today we’d like to introduce you to Emalie White.
Hi Emalie , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my photography journey in 2023, right after graduating high school. While many of my friends went off to big universities, I chose to attend community college and was looking for something to fill my time and my heart. My mom encouraged me to try photography (and like most moms, she was right!). Not long after, I was praying about it one night when a friend from high school called and asked if I’d take her photos. That moment sparked everything — and I haven’t stopped since. God really answered that prayer for me, and still is, everyday. I am so fortunate to love what I do.
Over two years later, I still love it just as much, if not more. I’ve learned that photography is so much more than just taking pictures — it’s about connection, emotion, and telling people’s stories in a way that feels true to them. I travel frequently to the Lowcountry of South Carolina, which has become my biggest source of inspiration. The coastal color palettes, soft light, and peaceful charm of that area bring out the heart of my work and the vision I have behind my photography.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely been enjoyable, but not always easy. Photography is becoming such an oversaturated industry, and it can be discouraging at times to lose clients, business, or even support because of how many new photographers are starting out. But I always come back to the truth that “what God has for you cannot be taken away by anyone.” That keeps me grounded and reminds me to keep showing up, doing my best, and trusting that God is leading me — in both my life and my business.
My biggest hope is that when someone has a session with me, they leave feeling encouraged and cared for — and that, in some small way, I’ve been able to reflect a little bit of Jesus to them. From the very beginning, I’ve made it a habit to pray over my camera before every shoot. I always say that if I’m not showing the love and light of Christ through my work, then there’s really no point to what I’m doing. My prayer is that everyone who steps in front of my lens experiences a glimpse of God’s grace and joy.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in senior photography, and my business is rooted in my faith — that’s truly what sets me apart. My goal has always been to make every client feel valued, seen, and cared for, not just through the photos I deliver but through the experience itself. I’m most proud of how many incredible people I’ve been able to reach, and the fact that my work takes me all across South Carolina — especially to the Lowcountry, where my heart and love for photography really shine through with those coastal tones and colors.
I want readers to know that my business is built on honesty, kindness, and a Christ-centered foundation. I’m by no means perfect, but I strive to make every session a positive, personal, and faith-filled experience. Whether it’s a senior session, a couple’s shoot, or a family milestone, my hope is that each client walks away not just with beautiful photos, but with an experience that leaves them encouraged and appreciated – Everyone needs to know and feel like the work of art Christ made them to be, and I hope that I can a connecting factor in that confidence for them.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could give one piece of advice to anyone just starting out, it would be to stay true to who you are and don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. This industry can feel overwhelming and saturated, but there’s room for everyone — especially when you’re walking in what God has called you to do. I wish I had known earlier that growth takes time, and that slow seasons don’t mean failure. Every shoot, every client, every challenge has a purpose. Keep showing up, keep praying, and trust that God will open the doors meant for you — in His timing, not yours.
