Today we’d like to introduce you to Dewayne Washington.
Dewayne , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started on drums in middle school after watching my church drummer. That led to marching band, that energy pushed me into making beats, then DJing, then artistry. Nearly 20 years later, I’m still at it, building as an entertainer, producer, DJ, and artist.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been smooth. I’ve missed a lot of family time and relationships trying to build this. In entertainment, it’s not just skill. It’s timing, seasons, and relationships. Some months are slammed, others slow down. And honestly, people don’t always wanna pay for quality. But I keep showing up.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear a lot of hats in entertainment. I’m a DJ, producer, musician, artist, and educator. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to perform, produce, teach music, and help develop younger musicians. I’m known for bringing a live musician energy to everything I do. And lately, I’ve stepped into film. That’s why I’m really proud of launching my latest project, Ambition: The Movie. Which is available now. It’s another way for me to tell stories and grow creatively. What sets me apart is my versatility. I don’t like to stay in one lane. I just like to create, perform, teach, and find new ways to connect.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I liked to fix things, I always put my toys and bikes back together when they didn’t work anymore. when I wasn’t doing that, I played basketball with my cousins, went fishing explored the woods, and pretty much anything outdoors in the country.
