Meet Danielle Pope of Trusted Results Therapy Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Pope.

Hi Danielle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into this work didn’t actually start in a therapy office or a classroom — it started on a softball field. Growing up as an athlete, I naturally stepped into leadership roles. I loved rallying my teammates, breaking down strategies, and helping others believe in themselves. Even then, I didn’t realize it, but I was already learning the foundations of what I do today: encouragement, structure, resilience, and helping people move forward one small win at a time.

Around that same time, I had my own experience in therapy as a young girl. Having a safe space where someone truly listened and supported me had such a positive impact on my life that I remember thinking, I want to do this for other people someday. That experience planted the seed early. Mental health care wasn’t just a career path for me — it was personal.

That calling led me to fully commit to the field. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, then my master’s in marriage and family therapy, and later completed a PhD in human behavior. I spent over a decade in school and training because I wanted to deeply understand people — how relationships work, how trauma impacts us, and how real change happens. I didn’t just want to help; I wanted to help well.

As I worked in different settings, though, I kept seeing the same problem. Families wanted support but ran into barriers everywhere — long waitlists, confusing systems, fragmented services, and care that felt rushed or disconnected. People were motivated to heal, but the system made it hard. I kept thinking, there has to be a better way to do this.

So in 2023, I decided to build it.

I founded Trusted Results Therapy Group with the vision of creating a different kind of mental health practice — one that combines evidence-based care with genuine human connection and actually helps people make meaningful progress. Our mission is simple: mental wellness for all. Our vision is to create communities where high-quality mental health care is accessible, coordinated, and empowering. And everything we do is grounded in our core values of trust, results, accessibility, and community.

What started small grew faster than I ever imagined. Today, we serve individuals, couples, and families across South Carolina through multiple locations in West Ashley, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Myrtle Beach, Columbia, and Rock Hill, along with virtual services statewide. We provide therapy, psychiatry and medication management, psychological testing, and rehabilitative behavioral health services so families can receive coordinated care under one roof instead of bouncing between agencies.

But what I’m most proud of isn’t just the growth — it’s the heart behind it. We accept all insurances to reduce financial barriers, we’re building a nonprofit to offer scholarships for those who can’t afford therapy, and we serve as a training site for student interns because I believe strongly in mentoring the next generation of clinicians. For me, expanding access isn’t just about opening more offices — it’s about building more helpers.

Personally, this journey has happened fast and hasn’t been without sacrifice. I’m a wife and a mom, and there were seasons of late nights and missed time while I built the foundation. I’m also living with multiple sclerosis, which has taught me resilience and perspective in ways I never expected. But those challenges have only deepened my empathy and strengthened my commitment to this mission. They remind me every day why this work matters.

When I look back, it feels full circle — from a young girl helped by therapy, to a student determined to learn everything she could, to now leading an organization that gets to support thousands of families. Trusted Results isn’t just a business to me. It’s the physical expression of my life’s purpose: creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — and honestly, if someone says building a business is smooth, they’re probably not telling the whole story.

For me, this journey has felt fast, messy, and very human. I spent years preparing — earning my degrees, training, and working clinically — but nothing really prepares you for what it feels like to actually build something from the ground up. When I launched Trusted Results Therapy Group, I thought it would grow steadily over time. Instead, the need in our community was so great that it took off quickly, which was a blessing, but also overwhelming. Growth sounds exciting, but rapid growth means you’re constantly solving problems in real time.

In the beginning, I truly did everything myself. I saw clients all day, then went home and handled scheduling, billing, insurance calls, hiring, and paperwork late into the night. There were plenty of nights I was working on my laptop at midnight thinking, how am I going to figure all of this out? Graduate school teaches you how to be a clinician, but it doesn’t teach you how to run payroll or negotiate contracts or manage a growing team. I had to learn the business side the hard way, through trial and error.

The hardest part, though, wasn’t the logistics — it was the personal sacrifice. I felt like I was missing time with my husband and daughter because I was pouring everything into the practice. That guilt is real. There were moments where I questioned if I was balancing it right or stretching myself too thin. I care deeply about my family, so that tension between building something meaningful and being fully present at home was one of the biggest emotional challenges. I had to consciously work to rebalance. Success doesn’t mean much if you don’t protect time with the people you love.

And then there’s the health piece. Living with multiple sclerosis while building a company adds another layer of unpredictability. Some days my body reminds me to slow down whether I want to or not. But it’s also taught me resilience and perspective. It’s helped me become more compassionate with myself and with others. I think it’s actually made me a more understanding clinician and leader because I know what it feels like to keep going even when things aren’t easy.

Looking back, I wouldn’t describe the road as easy — but I would describe it as meaningful. Every challenge stretched me, grounded me, and reminded me why I started. The struggles didn’t stop the vision; they strengthened it. And honestly, I think that’s what made it real.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Trusted Results Therapy Group was built with one simple but powerful goal in mind: mental wellness for all. From the very beginning, I wanted to create more than just a therapy office. I wanted to build a place where individuals and families could walk in and immediately feel safe, supported, and confident that they were going to receive real help — not just a quick appointment or a temporary fix.

Today, we’re a full-service mental health practice providing individual, family, and group therapy, rehabilitative behavioral health services, medication management, and psychological testing. We serve children, teens, and adults, and we work closely with families, schools, and community partners to make sure care doesn’t just happen in the office — it carries into everyday life. We specialize in working with clients who have more complex or high-need situations, including behavioral challenges, trauma, emotional regulation issues, and serious mental health concerns that benefit from a coordinated, team-based approach. Many of the families who come to us have struggled to find consistent support elsewhere, so continuity of care and meeting people where they are is incredibly important to us.

What really sets us apart is that we look at the whole picture. We don’t believe in siloed care. Instead of sending families to multiple agencies for different services, we’ve built a true continuum under one roof. Someone can receive therapy, skills-based support, medication management, and testing all within the same organization, with providers collaborating behind the scenes. That coordination leads to better outcomes and removes a lot of stress for families who are already overwhelmed.

Accessibility is also a huge part of who we are. We intentionally accept all insurances, including Medicaid, because I never want finances to be the reason someone can’t get help. We’ve expanded to multiple locations — West Ashley, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Myrtle Beach, Rock Hill, and Columbia — and we also provide virtual services across the entire state so people can access care wherever they are. For families who still can’t afford services, we’re building a nonprofit arm to raise donations and offer scholarships, because our mission is truly about removing barriers, not creating them.

Another piece of our heart is training the next generation. We’re a teaching and training facility that welcomes student interns and developing clinicians. I feel strongly that part of my responsibility is to mentor and equip future providers, because growing access to care isn’t just about opening more offices — it’s about building more compassionate, well-trained professionals who can serve our communities long-term.

We’re also very outcomes-driven. Our name, Trusted Results, is intentional. Trust comes first — building genuine relationships and showing up consistently — but results matter too. We set clear goals, track progress, and make sure the work we’re doing is actually helping people move forward. Mental health care should feel compassionate, but it should also feel effective.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built. Our team truly cares. They’re not just clinically strong — they’re empathetic, responsive, and deeply invested in the families we serve. We’re not just a business operating in the community; we’re part of the community.

At the end of the day, I want readers to know that everything we do comes back to one belief: everyone deserves access to quality mental health care. If someone walks through our doors — or logs in virtually — we want them to know they’re not alone and that real support is available. That’s what we’re known for, and that’s what I’m most proud of.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve never really felt like my journey was driven by luck. If anything, it’s felt like a mix of determination, faith, and just refusing to quit when things got hard. There weren’t many moments where I thought, wow, I got lucky — it was usually more like, okay, how am I going to figure this out?

That said, I do think there have been quiet blessings along the way. The right mentor calling at the right time. A great team member coming into my life when I desperately needed help. Families trusting us early on and spreading the word. Those moments felt less like luck and more like confirmation that I was on the right path.

If we’re talking honestly, the road has probably had more challenges than “good luck.” Launching Trusted Results Therapy Group and then watching it grow so fast was exciting, but it was also overwhelming. There wasn’t this smooth, lucky break where everything just fell into place. It was long days, late nights, and figuring things out in real time. I was building systems while actively seeing clients and trying to learn how to be a CEO overnight. Most days felt more like survival mode than luck.

If anything, what people might call luck has really been preparation meeting opportunity. I spent years in school, years training, years dreaming about building something like this. So when the opportunity came to start my own practice, I was ready to jump. And when growth came fast, I was willing to work for it.

I don’t see my story as lucky or unlucky. I see it as earned. It’s been messy, exhausting, meaningful, and incredibly rewarding. And I think that’s more real than luck ever could be.
