Hi Dani & Alivia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Mom & Daughter Duo with a Passion for Donuts
In 2019, we were on vacation visiting family in Florida. We stopped by a donut truck in Gainesville and fell in love! We then went to a coffee shop and wrote our business plan on a napkin and Blondiez was born! Two years later, we moved to OIB to chase our dreams and on June 9, 2021, we opened our first business venture, Lucy, our Food Truck! Since then we have been running around Brunswick County serving our now-famous cake donuts that are glazed & topped to order.
After becoming more & more popular with the surrounding communities our customers urged us to open our first brick & mortar location. After a lot of thinking and more hard work, my daughter Alivia & I brought that dream to life! We opened our first store on April 22, 2023 in Calabash, NC.
We are busy working on our second storefront which will open this summer on Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The funny thing about starting a business is this ….. YOU MUST be willing to work very hard & put in the long hours without a second thought. You may earn a dollar or two but the idea of grandeur doesn’t correlate with small business. We have had to do it all ourselves from painting our entire building from yellow to pink inside and out, laying every rock in our parking lot , created all of our online presence , etc . The list goes on & on. No reason to go into all the details because, to us, it’s a non issue. We LOVE what we have created, what we offer to our customers & the sheer joy y’all bring us when you continue to come back and support us.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am Dani ( Mama Blondie ) and I am the hugger & talker of the duo. I absolutely love to interact with my customers. The more I learn about each one of them makes me so happy. To be honest , I have created most of my friendships this way. Alivia is the other half of our duo. She is the master flavor creator & decorator. Alivia is also responsible for all of our social media as well. Her newest venture online has been on TikTok. She’s gone viral a couple times so far. Check it out!
We will do whatever it takes to continue to show up & out for our community. It has been a pleasure so far & we are so excited for Blondiez future. Mama Blondie
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Dislikes- It’s a stress like anything else we have ever experienced before! During the height of the summer, it is extremely stressful because we are very, very busy serving the tourists & locals from our food truck Lucy & our store. On the flip side, during the off season our bills keeps coming but our customers are not all in town so we are hard at work trying to spread the word that we are still open & ready to serve.
Likes- We love that we have the ability to create as many custom flavors for all of our customers. We enjoy serving our brides and grooms for their weddings as well. It is always a joy. We absolutely love that the little kids come into the shop to draw a donut picture and hang it up on our wall. We always have our pink Christmas tree decorated for the different seasons. Lots of photo ops at the store as well as with the food truck.
