Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Morgan.
Hi Christopher, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The Story of WeLead Martial Arts: Empowering the Charleston Community Through Karate and Leadership
WeLead Martial Arts was founded by Christopher Morgan, a lifelong martial artist with a passion for helping people grow. He started training as a teenager, and what began as a hobby quickly became a life-changing pursuit. That passion led him to open Black Belt Success Academy in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he built the school to over 200 members by focusing on more than just kicks and punches. The real emphasis was on leadership, discipline, and building character.
After several successful years in Virginia, Christopher decided to bring his vision to South Carolina. He launched WeLead Martial Arts in Mount Pleasant with one goal in mind: to empower individuals and families through martial arts while teaching valuable life skills along the way.
For the past two years, WeLead Martial Arts has been serving the Charleston and Mount Pleasant communities. The school is known for its friendly, high-energy environment where kids, teens, and adults alike can build confidence, focus, and resilience. With a strong emphasis on community involvement, WeLead is proud to give back through local events, school partnerships, and outreach programs. The mission goes beyond the mat—it’s about building stronger individuals and a stronger community.
Blending traditional martial arts values with a modern, practical approach, WeLead is helping shape future leaders one class at a time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been struggles along the way as many businesses experience. Welead Martial Arts has grown into an established school in the area by helping families adn individuals accomplish their goals in martial arts.
Welead Martial Arts was started inside of a hotel meeting room. Most of the students enrolled because they were met at different community events.
Our Grassroots marketing has grown the business from a small martial arts school to one of the more successful karate schools in the country.

Our martial arts school started inside of a hotel meeting room. With no store front and in a saturated market. We have been very lucky in growing a strong martial arts school inside of a hotel meeting room. There have been numerous difficulties along the way but with a strong grass roots marketing and a great community we have been able to grow a successful martial arts school.
