Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Sterling.
Hi Brittany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a passion for taking pictures, but I only really got into photography once I bought my first camera in high school and took a photography course in my junior year. Once I graduated in 2012, I had my first wedding to photograph in Atlanta, GA. I remember that wedding gave me the moment of realization that I wanted to continue with this journey. Fast forward to October 2018, I had my son Malcolm at 25. I knew that I needed to get things together and start thinking about the future, so I have been pushing myself ever since. In 2023, I have booked over 15 weddings for the year, along with many regular sessions booked up almost 5 months out. I have been so blessed with the most amazing clients and hope to continue growing!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I have had trial and error with particular sessions or clients, as far as with lighting, just because I was still learning at the beginning and hadn’t found my niche yet- or learned how to edit properly- I would say now that I have more control and confidence with taking images that I love and know that my clients will love as well once edited and delivered.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been a professional photographer for about 10 years now. However, I didn’t get serious about it until around 2017. It started as a hobby, and then once I saw my potential, I realized I could do this. I would say I’m most known for family portraits or kiddo sessions. I am trying to work more in the wedding industry, so I have been advertising and booking engagements and weddings more. This will probably be the biggest year I’ve ever had with my wedding photography.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Many people who know me will know this, but new readers may not. I have been singing since I was a little girl and learned to play guitar at 14. I’ve always had a passion for country music and hope that maybe one day I will sing at the Opry! I have been as far as Nashville, Tennessee playing at small-town bars to get my name out there, and a lot of that has to do with my following on Instagram.
