Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always believed beauty is more than what you see in the mirror. Long before I understood my purpose, I knew I loved helping people feel seen, valued, and confident.
I became a licensed cosmetologist in 2011, and over the past 15 years, Billie Jean Styles has grown into much more than a salon business. While I’m known for healthy hair and luxury silk presses, I’ve discovered that some of my most meaningful work happens through the conversations in my chair. My clients have trusted me with their stories, their tears, their victories, and some of life’s hardest seasons. I realized I wasn’t just caring for hair. I was caring for people.
At the same time Jesus was shaping me. As my relationship with Him deepened, I began to understand that my business was also my ministry. He taught me that every client, every opportunity, and every platform is a chance to serve with excellence, love people well, and point them toward hope.
Today, I’m still passionate about helping women achieve healthy, beautiful hair, but my calling has expanded beyond the salon. I’m also a licensed minister and consultant, helping women grow in their faith, build thriving businesses, and walk confidently in their purpose.
When I look back, I can see God’s hand in every season. What started as a passion for beauty has become a platform to impact lives through beauty, business, and faith. I’m simply committed to following wherever He leads next.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change the journey because every challenge has shaped who I am today.
One of my biggest challenges was building my career while raising my two oldest sons as a single mother. There were seasons when I was simply trying to survive while pursuing my dream of becoming a successful hairstylist. Like many entrepreneurs, I also learned that being talented at your craft and knowing how to run a business are two very different things. I made mistakes, learned hard lessons, and had to grow not only as a stylist but as a leader and business owner.
After marrying my husband, Devin, I experienced another season of growth as we blended our family and learned how to build a strong marriage while balancing ministry, business, and raising our sons. Those experiences taught me that success isn’t just about building a business. It’s about building a life that reflects your values.
Through every season Jesus has been faithful. He has opened doors I never could have opened on my own, given me strength when I wanted to quit, and reminded me that every challenge was preparing me for something greater. Looking back, I realize the difficult seasons weren’t detours. They were part of God’s plan to develop my character, strengthen my faith, and prepare me to serve others with compassion and wisdom.

Billie Jean Styles is a luxury beauty brand built on excellence, education, and healthy hair. I specialize in textured hair care and am best known for helping women achieve healthy, beautiful hair through customized care, luxury silk presses, and long-term hair health. My philosophy has always been to prioritize the health of the hair first while educating my clients so they can maintain their results between appointments.
What truly sets Billie Jean Styles apart is the experience. I believe excellence honors God, so from the moment someone books with me, I want them to feel seen, valued, and cared for. My goal is for every client to leave not only looking their best but feeling more confident than when they arrived.
Over the years, my brand has expanded beyond the salon. In addition to serving clients behind the chair, I consult with beauty professionals, speak at events, and teach from a faith-based perspective. At the center of everything I do is Jesus. My relationship with Him influences how I lead my business, serve my clients, and use my platform to encourage others.
One milestone I’m especially grateful for was recently being recognized as an Image Studios Image Icon, an honor that reflects my commitment to excellence in both my craft and my business. What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is washing and braiding my grandmother Cammie’s hair. I was only about five years old, but she trusted me completely. My grandmother had limited use of one of her hands, so I became her little helper. More than anything, she believed in me. She made me feel like I could do anything, even as a little girl.
A few years later, I learned how to braid at the community center during summer camp, and of course, my grandmother became my very first client. I loved greasing her scalp, braiding her hair, and spending that time with her whenever I visited.
Looking back, I believe those moments planted the seed for everything I do today. My grandmother, who is now with the Lord, was the first person to see something special in me. I truly give her the credit for inspiring me to become the hairstylist I am today.
