Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysia Stern.
Hi Alysia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From New York to Myrtle Beach: A New Chapter of Service and Adventure
After decades of dedication, service, and sacrifice, Cris hung up his FDNY uniform, but not his passion for helping others. It was time for a new chapter, and it led him and his partner to the sun-soaked shores of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Cris had spent a lifetime responding to emergencies in the heart of New York City. As a firefighter with the FDNY, his days were filled with adrenaline, camaraderie, and the unwavering duty to protect. But when the time came to retire, Cris knew he wanted something different something that would bring a sense of peace and new challenges, yet still allow him to contribute meaningfully to the community.
Enter Myrtle Beach.
The decision to move to South Carolina was both a personal and professional one. Alongside Cris, his wife, who was a real estate broker in New York decided to turn the page on their bustling city lives and embrace a slower pace, where they could build something of their own.
Having already been successful in the real estate market in New York, they decided to pursue their licenses in South Carolina. In this fresh coastal setting, they were determined to bring their business south, And that’s how “The Heroes Agency” in Myrtle Beach was born.
The Heroes Agents isn’t just another real estate company. Its a brand. It’s a testament to the couple’s shared values and their enduring desire to give back. In their minds, service isn’t confined to just one profession. It’s about making a positive impact wherever you are. Whether it’s helping first responders, veterans, or anyone looking to find their dream home in the beautiful coastal region, the agency is rooted in a commitment to serve.
What makes the Heroes Agency truly special is the deep sense of community. Cris and his partner understand the value of knowing the people you work with after all, the FDNY is built on teamwork and trust. That same ethos now drives their real estate business in Myrtle Beach.
The duo’s new life isn’t just about business. They’ve become an integral part of their new community, attending local events, supporting local heroes, and embracing the relaxed beach lifestyle that the South is known for. Retirement isn’t about slowing down it’s about pivoting into something new, something more aligned with who you are and what you believe in.
Whether they’re exploring the stunning coastline, working with clients, or helping people find their own slice of paradise in Myrtle Beach, Cris and his partner are proof that retirement doesn’t mean stepping away from life’s adventures. It’s just a new kind of journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road. We bought and moved into a small 1000 square foot condo that was great in the beginning but didn’t serve us after 6 months. That was a tough squeeze staying there for 2.5 years. Being so far from our children, Sophia stayed back in NY to get a medical degree and Jack is deployed as a United States Marine. It was lonley for Alysia.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Outside of real estate Alysia dabbles in media, radio, TV and is a published author. Her new podcast debuts August 19th at 7pm.
