Meet Alexsandra Sheffey of Make Ink Mama

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexsandra Sheffey

Hi Alexsandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
3 years ago I left my hometown and career to marry my husband who is in the army and was stationed at Fort Campbell at the time.
We both had 3 kids each, so it made sense for me to be a stay at home mom. I also ended up pregnant with our 7th child that year which just made more sense to stop working in management. During the time off I struggled with having less to do, being a stay at home mom is not as easy as it looks. So I found myself becoming crafty with my cricket creating shirts for our kids games and family events. Nothing sellable for sure but iI enjoyed it so much. In 2023 we ended up getting stationed in South Carolina at Fort Jackson. During that change it was my husband’s Family reunion coming up and his cousins and him were planning the event for the following year and asked me if I could create the shirts. I was so happy that they wanted me to, then I realized I need to step up my game and get better equipment for tshirt printing. After reviewing tiktok for weeks I finally decided yo invest in a high quality printer. My husband started sharing my information about my Tshirt printing with his coworkers who are always in need if PT Gear. Slowly I starter getting orders and within 6 months my business started booming all around the army base. One year later I proudly have created/printed tshirt designs for different battalions and companies all over the country. PT gear has became my main selling product but I also create custom designs for customers and small businesses as well! Make Ink Mama is done straight out of my home where I can be my own boss and still stay home with my kids. I been working since I was 14 years old so the gap I had not working was a rough change and creating my small business definitely filled that space for me again

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it hasn’t, I been able to learn from my mistakes when it comes to designing and printing. I cant tell you how many times I had to rebuy shirts and end up making nothingnout of it because of my mistakes I made. Those were definitely lessons I learned and what makes me more of a perfectionist when it comes to my orders now.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create and print custom design Tshirts.
I specialize in military PT gear
I’m proud of how much my business has gotten out there just through word-of-mouth. I never thought coming into this that I would create so much PT gear that’s not what I was aiming for, but it turns out to just go hand-in-hand with my life. But I do want people to know I do take custom orders. I do work for other small businesses in creating their business swag people come to me for orders for events like reunions birthdays or just a shirt for a concert. I do all of that.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Having patience for sure just not rushing through anything taking your time especially when you are your only employee
