Meet Ahmad Mikell of S. A. Mikell & Company, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahmad Mikell.

Hi Ahmad, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We started this construction company with a borrowed truck and a credit card. We began in roofing, then expanded into carpentry and masonry. From there we grew into homebuilding, eventually stepping into commercial general contracting. That path led us into infill development — and now even property management.

God has truly been good to us. Grateful for the journey and excited for what’s ahead.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. Hurricane Helene truly tested the strength and wherewithal of our company — but we stuck together and pushed forward, delivering 22 projects during that time. It was a tough season, no doubt, yet even in the storm it positioned us for a brighter tomorrow. Stronger. Wiser. Ready for what’s next.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about S. A. Mikell & Company, LLC?
We love commercial construction and development, but we also take pride in select residential projects. We’re known for building with integrity — simply doing the right thing — and managing every project with precision. Our mission is simple: elevate communities, one project at a time.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most valuable lessons we’ve learned in business is the importance of running lean and staying agile. Keeping operations efficient allows us to remain focused, adaptable, and prepared to pivot when market conditions, opportunities, or challenges arise. Flexibility isn’t just a strategy — it’s a necessity for long-term sustainability and growth.
