Meet Adrienne Heed of Great Falls, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Heed

Hi Adrienne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Photography has been my passion since I was a young teen when I would look at the album art of my favorite bands. In high school, I started taking photo classes and bought my first camera. After earning 2 degrees in the art of photography, I worked in New York in various portrait studios, including one of the most sought-out, well established senior portrait studios in Rochester.
I then moved on to working as a catalog photographer for an online auction site and an art museum while also freelancing.
I moved to South Carolina a few years ago where I look a position on the other side of photography, leading a team of retouchers to edit professional photos. After photographing for companies/studios over the last 20 years I’m now really focused on my own business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think the biggest struggle I’ve had is feeling like I can branch off on my own. For the last 20 years I’ve worked in the photography business but always for someone else’s company or brand. I’ve had my images posted as billboards on the highway, murals in an airport and photos in magazines but it was in the company’s name that I worked for instead of my own.
It’s also a little different for photographers now-a-days with consumer access to professional cameras and amazing quality camera phones.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love playing with light and catching a mood. My look tends to be a mix of posed, playful, moody and vibrant all while reflecting my client’s personality. I specialize in High School Seniors and couples but also photograph families and business owners.
I think my personality and experience sets me apart from others. I love connecting with people during my sessions.

What matters most to you? Why?
As an artist, making sure that I’m capturing something special and unique is really important. I don’t want to create the same scene over and over. It’s also really important that my client’s enjoy the experience as much as I do.
