Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Hamilton.
Hi Whitney , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Feb9th was a normal day until my son Elijah 3yrs at the time had came in my room in the middle of the night with a mid fever I have him some Motrin and I kept him home with me instead of going to daycare he was his playful his normal self he started to become warm again and I gave him another dose of Motrin around 1pm we then took a nap together when I woke up he felt and looked fine I then got ready to pick up my older son from school. Within 10-15mins of being gone by older daughter called me frantic describing my three-year-old son Elijah to be dead on the bed.. as confused and frantic as that made me i then called the police and headed back home as fast as I could… and coach my daughter to go to the neighbors house to ask for help.. within 3mins my neighbor was at my house to help the situation as much as she could and guided the EMS/fire department into my home they called and told me as I was rushing home that my son wasn’t dead but non responsive.. when I arrived I saw a lifeless child in a coma like state… has EMS got ready to transport him he was still having these stare like seizures with a temp of 105 at the time of arrival to hospital they didn’t know what was wrong in the emergency room they put ice packs on him and ran test immediately he had the flu but it still couldn’t explain his state.. with more test they realize his brain was swollen with blood on his brain and now within hours his body was shutting down Elijah was in IC for over a month after so many attempts I beg doctors to give him a experimental dose of a medicine that hasn’t even been out for five years the doctors were afraid to do so they called colleagues from different states. I had to sign paperwork and they allowed him to have another dose. That does have his body a shock it made him start to show signs of hearing and seeing and recognizing within a week…. Elijah couldnt walk or talk or eat but after months he shown to be resilient!! He can do all the things he use to now with much more to improve his survival rate was 30percent and his functioning rate was much lower but my faith and prayers said other wise
