Life & Work with Valencia Henry of downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valencia Henry.

Hi Valencia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My career as a nurse spans several decades with specialties in home health, primary care, hospice, geriatric, heart health, and Veteran disabilities. I have lived in and travelled to numerous states within the US. When I relocated to Myrtle Beach, I wanted to offer accessible primary care to the community that had “caring” and compassion in mind. At present I offer Primary Care, assistance with Veteran disability exams, MedAesthetics, Hormone Replacement Therapy and Addiction services to adults 18 years of age and up. We take all major insurances as well as cash clients. There are short wait times and we can usually schedule an appointment within the same week if not same day because we do accept walk-ins.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The business of medicine i.e. hiring dedicated compassionate employees who align with your vision, understanding billing and insurance reimbursement and trying not to get swallowed up into the larger conglomerate organizations so you can stand alone and prosper has been a challenge.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I truly enjoy helping others achieve their most optimal health and wellness goals. This is not a cookie cutter service and I take to time to know all my clients as individuals with their own unique issues and concerns. In many cases I have taken care of entire families and continue to do so. I pride myself in having the ability to truly listen and offer supporting, caring health care services. I don’t have to rush in most cases and I don’t overbook. My team and I are available to get most clients seen within a 24 hour window.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I try to treat others and offer the kind of care that I would expect for myself.
