Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Robinson.
Hi Shawn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started with a love for movies and a question. How are movies made?
I decided I was going to find out. So I bought an old video camera and headed to the internet.
For the next 4 months I watched training videos and read articles on the subject. It was a large amount of knowledge. After that I wrote and filmed my first short form movie. It was an amazing experience. I just kept going. It was humbling to see just how beautiful this life is through the lens of a camera. Fast forward to today and I have two feature length movies on streaming services, multiple commercials and ( a personal favorite) capturing someone’s wedding day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was and still is a struggle. Technology is ever changing so I have to always make sure I am learning.
Not to mention keeping a constant creative mindset to apply to videos as the landscape in how people consume them changes.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make short form and long form video content for business or individuals. Specializing in telling someone’s story in an engaging way. What sets me a part……hmmmm, well I’d say the ability to tap into a viewers emotions just by what they are watching.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Id have to say that I have crippling social anxiety. So on the outside I am calm and collective, but the inside is like a tornado of thoughts while I am on set.
