Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Rossi
Paul, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my acting career on the show Hunted on CBS. That’s when I was bitten by the entertainment bug. I realized then, that my work in undercover investigations had transferred fluidly into acting. Long before that, I had hit a very low point in my life. It was my rock bottom.
After losing everything in a drunken moment of stupidity, I’ve also been a Military Security Contractor and lived and worked for a year in Southern Afghanistan fighting the Taliban. I worked on a maritime security response team on a Department of Defense contract with the Missile Defense Agency. I was also on a personal protection contract as a Diplomatic Security Contractor for the Department of State and worked for the U.S. Consulate in Erbil, Kurdistan. I’m now over 20 years sober and my Acting Career is getting better and better.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I lost everything I had. I was arrested in a bar fight and sent to a level 3 prison for putting 3 men in the hospital. I lost my job as Managing Investigator of a private investigations company. I lost my luxury townhouse, and had to start over from scratch. It took me years of scraping and changing my entire life to get back in the game.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an actor who had a very different experience to the normal route of acting training. I was an undercover investigator who had to learn quickly how to be someone else, in order to simply survive.
I also volunteer as an Ambassador for a nonprofit organization called Mission 22, which fights against Veteran suicide. As a Navy Veteran and Military Security Contractor, it’s a cause that’s near and dear to my heart.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I honestly don’t believe in luck, good or bad. I believe everyone is responsible for creating their own destiny in life. Hard work has been proven to pay off eventually. Louis Pasteur once said “chance favors the prepared mind.”
