Today we’d like to introduce you to Nickolas Mauldin
Hi nickolas, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was 6yrs old I fell in love with music through my mothers records at family functions. I carried this love with me through my younger years until I was old enough to see my dreams come to fruition by creating musical joy for the people I play for. It has always been my dream to own a radio station and everything I do is with that goal in mind. As time goes on and I continue to perfect my craft in radio production, music production and audio engineering. Ever since my grandfather gave me the money to start my first official business as a lawn care service at the age of 9, I took what I learned and focused it toward the music business. These experiences are what got me to where I am today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Anything worth having doesn’t come easy, I am the living example of this. Over the years I have spent countless hours learning how to use computers, radio engineering equipment and the like. I’ve not had anyone to teach me the things I have learned, my willingness to learn drove me to read books, ask questions and seek out additional knowledge. Everyone has struggles along the way, I am no exception but having the willpower to fight through your struggles is what sets you aside to be different from the rest. Failure has never been an option.
In 2020 I received the unfortunate news that I had Covid 19, this happened during one of my busiest seasons so far. After being released from the hospital after 5 days I immediately went back to work. 2 months after recuperating from Covid, I suffered a major heart attack, another set back. These challenges made me stronger and more determined to continue chasing my dreams.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a professional DJ, it is my main responsibility to ensure whoever I am playing for loves the music. Whether it’s a wedding, a birthday party or a corporate event, it takes a lot of imagination, time and planning to make sure I am providing the right type of music for these events.
I have created a avenue for other up and coming Djs to learn some of the things I learned along the way by starting Unplugged Media Foundation. The foundation provides education for the business behind a multi-media company. I love to teach others about branding, entertainment, available grants that can be applied for and tutorials on how to use media equipment.
