Today we’d like to introduce you to Myisha Bannister.
Hi Myisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My path into calibration wasn’t accidental — it was built through years of working in high-pressure, precision-driven environments where performance, communication, and systems thinking mattered every single day.
I started my career in roles that demanded absolute attention to detail and accountability, from leading teams in automotive manufacturing at BMW to serving as a technical specialist at Apple, where diagnosing complex problems quickly and accurately was non-negotiable. In both environments, I learned how systems behave under load, how small misalignments create bigger issues, and how critical it is to understand not just what is happening — but why it’s happening
As I moved into service advisory roles in the automotive space, I gained firsthand exposure to the gap between what customers feel in their vehicles and what’s actually happening beneath the surface. I saw how often drivability complaints, shifting issues, and “something feels off” conversations were treated as isolated problems instead of system-level behavior. That disconnect stood out to me immediately
At the same time, my background in aviation ground operations and live production environments reinforced a mindset I carry into calibration today: when timing, coordination, and system harmony are off, the entire operation suffers. Whether it was marshaling aircraft safely, managing live broadcasts, or coordinating large-scale events, the lesson was always the same — performance only works when every component is aligned and communicating correctly .
Becoming a Calibration Expert was a natural progression. Calibration sits at the intersection of everything I’ve done — technical diagnostics, systems thinking, pressure-tested decision making, and translating complex data into real-world results people can feel immediately. I don’t view tuning as chasing numbers; I view it as correcting behavior. Aligning the engine, transmission, and driver intent into one cohesive system is where my experience converges.
This career move wasn’t a leap — it was the most logical next step. Calibration allows me to apply my technical background, automotive experience, and performance mindset to deliver results that are measurable, repeatable, and meaningful every time the vehicle is driven.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No — it hasn’t been smooth. And that’s exactly why I’m good at what I do.
The biggest challenges weren’t technical, they were structural. Entering a male-dominated, opinion-heavy industry meant there was no margin for error. I had to be precise, prepared, and able to defend every decision with data — not opinions.
I also had to push past the industry habit of treating symptoms instead of root causes. Too often, drivability issues are accepted as “normal.” I wasn’t willing to accept that, which pushed me deeper into calibration and system-level problem solving.
The road wasn’t easy, but it forced a higher standard. And that standard is what defines my work today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At the core of my work, I’m a Calibration Expert. I specialize in powertrain calibration, meaning I don’t just tune engines — I recalibrate how the engine and transmission work together as a system.
What I’m known for is correcting vehicle behavior. A lot of cars are labeled “fast,” but they don’t feel right. Shifts are inconsistent, torque delivery is chopped, drivability is compromised, and owners are told that’s normal. I don’t accept that. My work focuses on aligning torque management, throttle response, and shift strategy so the vehicle behaves the way it should in real-world driving — not just on paper or a dyno.
What sets me apart is that I approach calibration from a systems perspective, not a numbers chase. I’m not interested in peak horsepower if it comes at the cost of drivability, longevity, or predictability. Every calibration is vehicle-specific, driver-focused, and data-driven. The goal is balance — power that’s usable, shifts that are intentional, and a car that feels cohesive instead of conflicted.
What I’m most proud of is the trust that comes from consistency. When customers tell me their car finally feels “right,” or when shops rely on my calibrations to represent their reputation, that matters more than any number. My work speaks through how the vehicle behaves every time it’s driven — and that’s ultimately what separates calibration from tuning.
Any big plans?
My focus moving forward is scale with intention. I’m continuing to expand powertrain calibration in a way that maintains quality, safety, and consistency — not just volume. That means working more closely with trusted repair facilities, fleets, and performance-focused shops to bring engine and transmission calibration in-house without compromising standards.
I’m also focused on education — helping shops and drivers better understand vehicle behavior, torque management, and why proper calibration matters beyond horsepower numbers. The industry is evolving quickly, and I want to be part of raising the baseline of how calibration is understood and applied.
Long-term, I’m building a brand centered on correctness and trust. Not just faster cars, but vehicles that behave predictably, last longer, and feel right every time they’re driven. That’s what I’m most looking forward to — shaping a space where calibration is treated as a discipline, not a shortcut.
