Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Munn.
Hi Liz, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been an aesthetician since 2007. During that time I have had the privilege of working with many different Skincare companies, performing different types of treatments, learning about traditional Chinese medicine, working with native South Carolina Lowcountry plants and plant medicine. I believe that every person is different and every face is different. I create treatment treatments and products from the cleanest freshest plant material I can grow or purchase if necessary from reputable locations. I treat the face you bring me that day, which can be different from last month. I believe these advantages are the best way to address the skin and the spirit. SkinPro Studio has been my dream come true for a decade. During that time, my treatment style and skills have developed based on how I see things happening and working and how I have increased my knowledge base. I love what I do. The relationships I have created with clients and with other local businesses provide me not only professional success, but personal happiness.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe my biggest struggle is describing to customers and in marketing pieces how individual I treat each client. Facials and skincare have traditionally come from bottles and protocols. The bottles on my back bar tend to be mason jars of fresh plant material that I have grown, processed, and use daily. What I do is a very niche service and I attract people who have experienced allergies from ingredients, people who have sensitive skin, and those more interested in nontraditional Skincare treatment treatments.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most proud of the fact that I am a continual learner. Working with plants and transferring that knowledge into product development has a fascination for me that provides happiness and results. Getting to know a plant is much different than getting to know a person. There is a similar relationship in the sense that all plants are individuals as well as people however plants provide more consistency and are more scientific. The needs of people change regularly and providing them with the match for the perfect treatment brings me a great deal of joy.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I am not sure that I would classify this as luck, however, I tend to look at things and see a benefit and perhaps a darker side or a drawback. I take my experiences and learn from them creating abroad knowledge base not only from a development standpoint, but from a personal standpoint. The lesson I take forward and the pain or the regret I leave behind. You can’t have one without the other. I suppose the luck is found from where one thing leads you to the next. I have a tendency to learn something and then develop more questions to learn something additional or learn something in an adjacent plant Genius or an adjacent treatment option. So one thing leads me to the next, which I consider to be very lucky.
