Life & Work with Leslie Sue Zoslow of Spartanburg, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Sue Zoslow.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began this online interviewing platform for professional artists and those that represent professional artists to provide a missing element that I perceived. This missing element is “knowledge.” Knowledge of the artist. Through our art conversations, artists communicate their artistic vision, processes, and approaches that serve to educate. This knowledge and education provides the general public, viewers, potential clients, and the like to a greater nexus point connected to a given artist, their creative endeavors, and serves to provide a deeper knowledge base of what art is and what art can be. This art knowledge is of great benefit to any professional practicing artist hoping to make a living from their creative work, and or continue to make a living for established artists particularly when new exciting changes and developments are taking place in their art journey, as well as those who represent artists and aim to educate and celebrate a given artist (s) work in a collection or gallery space.
Art n’ Talk video archives include art business owners, visual artists, musicians, writers, poets, authors, novelists, dance studio owners, photographers, sculptors, 2d & 3d artwork, textiles, and more! What a great honor it has been and continues to be for me to connect with, interview, and share conversation with such amazing artists! My gratitude extends to the many artists I have had the privilege to interview and those that I will!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Art Knowledge Is Power! Spreading this concept has some challenges as it aims to move conventional societal thought about art in a new direction.
The general public most often has not spoken to an artist to gain insight into their artistic vision and focus, thus, does not have a well rounded foundation from which to view their art. The missing link here, is knowledge. Knowledge of the artist is key to educate the public. Once the public domain is privy to an artists’ driving motive’s that govern their art through the actual artist words, art curator, gallery owner, etc…then the public brings that knowledge to the artwork. This art knowledge serves as the portal in which the viewer now experiences an enriching, engaging, and higher understanding of what they are seeing and or listening to. The viewer becomes connected to the artist and their art via this knowledge. This outcome is priceless.
Art n’ Talk interviews provide this paramount point of knowledge, acting as a bridge, allowing our art conversations to dive deep into the mind and heart of each artist being represented to further propitiate the public’s understanding. How the artist approaches their work, thinks about their work, along with their origins, creative, and technical processes is vital knowledge to serve as key points for understanding art viewed by the public. Interviews also include content for guests to further elaborate on as foundation points to solidify what their art represents. What results is that the general public, the viewer, has a wider knowledge base of a given artist and this knowledge serves to enhance the viewing experience. Resulting in a greater affinity for art and the role of the artist in society. Not to mention resulting in greater potential sales, repeat buyers, and social media followers. It is this knowledge, it’s vital role to understanding what art and an artists’ personal trajectory is, that Art n’ Talk interviews serve.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Although initially a communications major, my undergraduate studies lead me to receive a BS in psychology. The human mind with all its functions, attributes, and networks are and have been of great interest. Consciousness and unconscious processes, mental faculties, and manifestations of the mind are gratifying subjects for me to dive deeper into.

Graduate studies moved me in an art direction to receive a master’s degree in fine art. A lifelong love of all the arts has always been present in my life and continues. Along with the visual arts, I enjoy blogging my original poetry, devotionals, alongside my digital art. I spent many years photographing weddings, pets, family, and children combined with designing albums and professional fully edited images. My background also includes teaching art in both the public and private school system.

Volunteer work has included involvement in children’s ministry and devoting time to photograph pet events for adoption purposes. Pet photographs are worked up as digital artwork for prospective future pet owners to view and hopefully for the pet to receive a forever home. Leading groups at my local church in the visual arts and in poetry techniques and styles has also been a source of fulfillment.

With a fervent devotion to my spiritual growth, inclusive of 30 plus years of meditation practice, I found myself with a desire to help individuals and groups learn how to quiet the mind, exercise stress management, cultivate mindfulness, and to focus on self knowledge. Through my Impact Meditation classes, in~person and online, I have found another purposeful road to connect with and guide those interested in aligning with their highest potential through mantra based ~ sound vibration ~ techniques that I offer in my meditation classes. Classes run 75 minutes and typically run $50.00. Scheduling and questions can be directed via email at impactmeditation@gmail.com
