Hi Kisha , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My business started in 2018. I was selling fragrance body oils with a friend and I really enjoyed the selling process and meeting people. I ventured out on my own, and started selling oils for myself. I saw a video on YouTube on how to make a simple body butter. I gave it a try and I liked the product that I made for myself. The thought came to mind if anyone would buy them. I started making them to sell in 2019. At this time the body Butters did not have a name. They only had the fragrance on the label.
December 24, 2019, I lost my son, four days after his 25th birthday. He was my only child. In honor and memory of him, I named the butters after him. Akii’s Body Butter.
It has been a bittersweet journey. I find gratification in knowing that his name lives on and is in many homes.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This is not a hard business. The fragrance body oils pretty much sell themselves. Fragrance Body oils have been around for years. There are staples like Egyptian Musk and Baby Powder. Of course one of my top sellers Amber White.
The only struggle for me is attending an event without Akii. It was great having the company, bonding as only a mother and son would, and of course him carrying the heavy items.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In my primary career, I bill health insurance for a State Agency. I am a new Realtor with Keller Williams Palmetto in Sumter.
Selling the fragrance body oils was a hobby that turned into a business. The Akii’s Body Butters has become a passion of mine. I LOVE making the butters. I enjoy going out to different events selling the oils and butters. Meeting new people, watching them smell the different oils, and butters, and sampling.
What sets me apart from others is I do not cut my oils. The fragrance last all day. The body butters are made with love. When I make the body butters, I make sure I am in a good place, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I use quality products.
