Life & Work with Ja’Kinna Shi’parri Lynch of Spartanburg, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ja’Kinna Shi’parri Lynch.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started 25 years ago doing hair in my room at my parents home. As a little child, I would play stylist on my Barbie dolls and mannequin neads. I was always changing my hair styles, trying different colors, pertecting different techniques until l had the opportunity to go to cosmetology school at RD Anderson in Spartanburg SC, where I received my license in two years and graduated high school. My first salon job was at Great Clips, where I received all the training could to better my craft. Any cut
wasnt clear on, I had the opportunity to take training as often as needed. I became the Manager a year later. After my season there, I began to work in a full service salon. I always had a fear because I didn’t think that I would get consistent clients, but God showed me otherwise. I would shadow and shampoo for other stylists, learn different things to better my craft. I was faithful to showing up everyday and I gained a full clientele. I’m currently in high demand. Nobody but God!!! In my 20 years in the salon, I am currently a Licensed Cosmetology Instructor, Barber Instructor, and a Trichologist. Before I became a Trichologist, I noticed so many people were dealing with hairloss. That became my passion. I wanted to help restore hairloss. So many people aren’t educated on why they are really losing their hair. This was my next assignment. My goal is to educate my clients and enhance their natural beauty.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I did have a few obstacles. The only challenge was the wear and tear on your body. So it’s important to wear the proper shoes and clothing while working. I did end up having to have carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand in 2019. It helped but I had to start taking it easy. At one point I got lost in the salon, I worked so much and wasn’t taking care of my body and I got sick. It was God reminding me that I was doing too much. After getting out the hospital, I was out of the salon for a week. I had time to regroup, reset, and start my life over the right way. I began to eat better, workout and it became a lifestyle change. I feel better than I’ve ever felt and I no longer overdo it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I would call myself an artist. I like to stay current and up to date with styles, colors, cuts etc. I love to be creative in my line of work. My goal is to make sure the customer is not only happy but confident when they get out of my chair. Most importantly, making sure their hair is healthy. If they are struggling in that area, my goal is to make it right. It takes time and patience to regrow hair. The client must follow instructions and we work together. Not only do I get to dress hair, I get to be a Trichologist if they are having scalp issues. That’s my passion. I specialize in hair growth, color and specialty cuts. I am currently known for cuts, color, and resolving hair and scalp issues. I am most proud of this opportunity as well as just keeping up with the industry. I am also proud when I see growth where someone was balding, giving them another chance to have hair. I have my own product line “Shi’parri’s Allure Collection” as well! My products are natural, safe and they work. What sets me apart from others is my ability to grow hair (Gods anointing), my contagious laugh, my spirit, and true love for my craft!!!! Also going the extra mile for all my clients!!!
